In the meantime, Kiffin has made himself notorious for rummaging in the remainders bargain bin of NFL players to find guys who want to come back to college, forcing the courts to step in and adjudicate the subsequent tiff between Kiffin and college football authorities (or would-be authorities or used-to-be authorities).
Kiffin has made himself into the closest thing college football has to a wrestling heel, is what I'm saying.
When he's introduced at the beginning of the game, the boos might make the walls of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium crumble.
If this works, ONCE MORE, it means we're just a nation of ignorant bigoted assholes who will richly deserve the punishment, of various kinds, that we'll inevitably get.

As I recall, Horton was let out of prison under some kind of furlough program that was actually put into law under his Republican predecessor. They probably didn't intend for the program to include violent offenders, but the state supreme court ruled that the law, the way they wrote it, had to include people like Horton.
The state legislature passed a new law that would have kept violent offenders from being eligible for the program, but Dukakis vetoed it. I would have liked an explanation for that veto, but never heard one. Perhaps Dukakis had a good, albeit technical reason for his decision. Or, just maybe, he was too busy fending off more ridiculous questions like "if your wife, Kitty, was raped and murdered, would you still be against the death penalty?"
Such is the life of a Democratic candidate. The Republicans are somehow still seen as the party of law & order, even after Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Trump's 34 felony convictions.
So, every trump voter claims they voted for him because of the price of eggs, etc. Maybe the press could put two and two together and recognize that if that was the REAL reason then trump would be running on bringing costs down. But trump knows, magats know, and the press know that they voted for him because they're bigots. This kind of campaign should finally shut down the pretense, but it won't because the press like trump as clickbait. So, they'll keep pretending those racists at the diner are perfectly sincere and that trump's racist campaign doesn't exist.
The ones I'm worried about are the passives who stayed home in 2024 to the tune of 90 million strong and the passives who voted themselves for democracy but who weren't willing to be sufficiently active to #ArriveWithFive and pull those people off the couch
