The most unbelievable part of this story is that Drumpf was watching PBS. Maybe he was waiting for Sesame Street to come on.

Expensive, inefficient, cruel, impractical and generally a bad idea? I'm surprised MTG isn't pushing a bill right now.

A+ analysis as always. My first thought on reading his mind diarrhoea was "Enlarge Alcatraz? How? It's not like Manhattan with granite underlying to support skyscrapers."

He is actually mad. And I write this from the psych ward, where the distinction between "mentally ill" and "batshit crazy" is plain as day. (I have been struggling with the old treatment-resistant depression again.)

Dear Leader dreams up another "out of the box" idea. More like out of his mind idea.

Can't we get J.K. Rowling to tell him that he should reopen Azkaban instead?

Trump talks about these criminals spreading "filth." Who does he want to Alca-Trap? Litterers? Or those who can't find public toilets?

Using it as a theater has been tried - IIRC, it worked well enough for one audience to appreciate "Romeo and Juliet" moving with the actors to different sets - but not well enough to anyone to try is a second time. Incidentally, I assume Burt Lancaster was also not available for comment.

Sure! Reopen it with one tenant: him. Rename it Moron Lagoon. Give him some drones to play with to keep him from doing more damage.

Term? I'd be surprised if it ends up being the dumbest idea he has THIS WEEK.

Much has been made of the sheer lunacy of this in previous comments and articles, and are so blindingly self-evident that I won't repeat them here.

I can only say this is an idiocy so profound that it could have only come from one source.

It's another idiotic half-thought meant to distract and nothing more. The logistics and astronomical costs of reopening Alcatraz would be insane. It'd be cheaper to demolish it and rebuild an all new prison out of actual money. 🙄

"The logistics and astronomical costs of reopening Alcatraz would be insane. "

Well, look. That's not going to STOP them. If insane costs for some clown show - especially if it is ALSO a way to try to lock up U.S. citizens they don't like - were any kind of deterrent to these morons, they wouldn't have had military planes kidnapping people who had committed no crimes, flying them out of the country at the costs of hundreds of millions, and Kash Patel taking a military plane to travel from Las Vegas, where he still lives, across the country to Long Island for a sports event, before issuing orders to LOCK UP A JUDGE who was acting within her rights under the law to refuse to actively assist putative ICE agents when they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A WARRANT.

We need to do more work than that. What we need to do is put in the work to figure out HOW they are going to TRY to do it, regardless of how illegal and expensive it is, and do two things -- corral them so they CANNOT do it, and/or should they get away with it, figure out how to shut it down with alacrity.

"overwrought rants about locking up the most vicious “Criminal Offenders” so that they can no longer “spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets.”"

* Does the Amber Ardipithecus ramidus *ever* say or shitpost on social media anything that isn't overwrought bovine scat?

* And I thought the Fulvous Fuckwad and the whining little insects that circle around him like flies around fresh dogshit were done trying to gaslight the American people about an increase in rampant violent crimes being committed. Especially given that two of his attack Dachshunds -- Bondi and Patel -- still have not rewritten the FBI report on the decrease in crime nor disavowed it as fake news.

* Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I've been under the impression that violent criminals, after Due Process (another thing that Mooseballs Mussolini doesn't understand), and if convicted will already be facing incarceration.

* Those predominantly responsible for the "filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets[]” are MAGAdroids looking for a little street justice for those that done them dirty.

-----

"For too long America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering."

Yep, we've been suffering since 2016 when the MAGAdroids -- who offer nothing more than efforts to rid the country of people who aren't like them -- took to the streets in support of a lying, narcissistic, embodiment of explosive diarrhea out to further enrich himself. To the RINOs, a repeat offender is anyone with two or more minor traffic infractions like speeding, not paying for parking, having a car with a busted taillight, or driving while not being white.

-----

"We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally."

* Judges who refuse to do their job; IOW Judges that won't roll over for belly rubs and let the Mango Malignancy run roughshod over the Constitution, the rule of law, and refuse to acknowledge that the Pumpkin Pestilence is omnipotent. These asshole judges don't understand the necessity to rule by Imperial Edicts and diktats, aka EOs.

* These activist judges are also standing in the way of the RINOs exporting those who legally entered the US, green card holders, naturalized citizens, and native born citizens. If you are a POC or emigrated from a shithole third-world country you're fair game for ICE.

-----

"The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.

No, reopening "the Rock" will not symbolize what the Sociopathic Marigold Swamp Monster thinks it will. Instead it will be a symbol of a country that will resort to kangaroo courts, star chambers, and violating a person's Constitutional rights... hell, they will toss into the clink anyone trying to exercise their basic human rights.

-----

"This headline concedes the idea that there is a plan"

Actually, there might not be a plan worked out, but the Tangerine Tyrant most definitely has a concept of an idea for a plan.

-----

"We have much more inhumane prisons now (hello, Supermax in Florence Colorado)"

You sorta, kinda beat me to it. I was going to suggest that the RINOs finance a new ADX Florence, but in the middle of the Alaskan Tundra. The only cost would be the materials. I think closing off a yuge area with concertina after concertina of razor wire, throw the criminals into it, supply the minimal stuff needed to build the prison, and tell the new inhabitants that if they want any shelter from the cold they have to build it themselves. It worked out for many facilities in the USSR's Gulag system, and it should work here, too.

Sure! There’s money to rebuild and wire Alcatraz, add a gilded ballroom onto the White House, and throw an enormous military birthday party for His Majesty, Pope Donnie Two-Dolls. Just not enough to prevent global disease or save Christmas. But I AM excited about my 5 pencils. America First, right?

OT, maybe. In addition to all the other things Trumpy which piss me off, now we have an additional one. It is becoming clear to all but the Trumpistas that Donnie's cognition is in serious trouble. We have had to endure years of their throwing out crap about "Biden's cognitive decline" when all that was happening was his poor speaking ability; now when F34 is CLEARLY going off his rocker they regard he insane pronouncements as the height of profundity (how's that for an oxymoron).
