I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the IRS, even when I owed them money. The people on the phone were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I'm sure this administration will find some way to fuck that up.
And these people have had their legs cut out from under them with budget cuts by the Republican legislature. I know that it's considered a stretch to sympathize with the IRS, but every civil servant has become terribly familiar with being slapped around in public opinion while doing twice as much with half the personnel.
Not to mention the managerial bureaucracy deciding to "incorporate private sector best practices", or force productivity speed ups via programs like Lean Six Sigma. Creating hostile working environments, pushing long time experienced career employees to the breaking point, forcing more work on fewer people, creating an environment for more on the job injuries or job related illnesses. The federal workforce has been shit on for years, and our benefits are the low hanging fruit in budget negotiations. While Democrats can be sketchy allies, Republicans absolutely screw us every chance they get.
