The “water club” ( and coffee clubs ) are a thing in the federal government. It’s kind of infuriating for federal workers to not get the basic workplace amenities of coffee and water afforded almost every private sector employee, but it’s all about the optics.
There are a lot of federal workers and a lot of federal workplaces. That adds up, and if they provided these perks, sooner or later some watchdog organization would start talking about the millions and millions of taxpayer dollars that were being used to keep the federal workforce hydrated and caffeinated— and they don’t want that kind of attention.
Given the unfettered corruption of the current administration, the idea that it’s somehow unethical to give federal workers coffee and water purchased with public funds seems quaint, a relic of the bygone era of 10 years or so ago.
I saw Pam Bondi speak right after the killings. She seemed almost hysterical as if she had pumped herself up. But she was clearly acting. I have never seen law enforcement speak this way. Now I will be looking for her future performances.
We all remember the effort put forth by the Trump goon squads the first time around, after the Charlottesville "Jews will not replace us" tiki-torch, Nazi hootenanny, don't we? Was anybody investigated - much less prosecuted or persecuted, even - for that? Fuck no. He couldn't care less about antisemitism, unless it's used to bash Democrats.
