From the second WSJ article: "Even if Biden came back it would not be the same,” said Alice Rufo, deputy defense minister of France. “The time of warnings is over. Now is the time to do.”

We all suspected this was the case, probably knew it was true, but there it is. Even if we get a sane president in 2028 and 2032, it's going to take decades to repair the damage — if we can even repair it at all. It's going to take major reforms to our institutions too because no one is going to trust us if a few tens of thousands of dumbass voters in a handful of swing states can put someone like Trump in charge again with unchecked power.

"American allies have begun pushing the gas pedal on an unprecedented experiment in de-Americanization."

Is it still called a gas pedal when they're all driving EVs?

I call mine the go pedal because I can't call it the loud pedal any more

They say that an individual won't change until they hit rock bottom. Considering the American Exceptionalism that's been crammed down our throats from almost the moment the Republic began, that just might be what's needed to finally just break MAGA. The rest of the world organizes around ideas of mutual cooperation and peace, discover that they don't need the hulking older brother to protect them from the bullies on the corner, and there's nothing anyone can do but stand there and watch it happen.

Tough love.

Trump has lived his entire 80 years having some paid psyco-phant kiss his shit stained ass and tell him his turd pile diaper smells like roses.

Well, there was that one time his older brother dumped a bowl of mashed potatoes on his head. That seems to be a sore point.

Trump has, apparently, given Ukraine permission to build Patriot missiles, which is nice but probably violates ITAR restrictions on technology transfers. More than that, as anyone who follows rocket and space news, knows, it takes years to ramp up production of a rocket. Lockheed and Rayethon can build scores of them because they already have the jigs and dies to make them. Ukraine would have to start from scratch. Besides, Ukraine designed and built the best Soviet rocket engines back in the day, so if these people are still alive Ukraine can probably build their own, better rockets.

I think that Trump’s behavior and delusional rambling was the most embarrassing performance yet! Please put grandpa in the home!

"...while you, too, grapple with the world’s growing embrace of Carney’s thesis [the old America isn't coming back]."

I wouldn't grapple with that thesis. I applaud it! Had I the means, I'd leave the country and join the civilized world.

God why won't you have the late Mitch McConnell come for this bloated carcass of a human being? Please.
