Why are you so insistent that the protestors find a new strong man to follow? Can you really not imagine people being nice to each other without being subjected to some kind of fascist organisation? The message of the protests is clear: The police must stop existing in it's current form.
I'm sure that once the governor or mayor or whatever actually take action to reach that goal they will be cheered on by the protestors. But there are still police in riot gear everywhere, so the action has not been taken yet.
