I can just see that little little birb saying "Wheeeee!" as it goes over the first big hump in that gif. This is one of my favorites ever.

The lack of horse in your Sunday BBQ may be cold comfort if you take into consideration that one of the countries Trump's leaning on for his meat imports is Argentina, where beef is a national icon and consumers have responded to rising prices by turning to donkey. The only difference with the US being that they're less squeamish and don't need to grind it up to pretend it's something else.

I don't think voters are dumb. I think they've been living in a world with only half of the left represented in our political landscape. And the part that is cut out is the part that directly helps people.

I'm sorry I read the Bad Faith Times piece. But, I suppose it's information we should all be aware of: People Are Stupid.

You know what is the difference between TACO's brain and a lump of pink play-dough melting on asphalt during a hot July day?

Neither do I. He makes 1989 Ray-Gun look like a mensa candidate

Hops: grrr mad's avatar

TACO is more of a MRSA candidate.

As I remember (not always reliable), back in the 70s, when beef prices soared, and some people turned to horsemeat where it was legal (was then here, but not now), we bought some. We bought a roast, and ground meat. The meat was a darker red hue than beef, and the fat on the roast was quite yellowish. There was also a difference in taste. I did not like the roast. The ground meat was made into meatballs, so you couldn't really taste the difference with all the seasonings. Did make my then husband laugh when he called from work to ask what was for dinner, and I told him, "Spaghetti and horseballs." Sorry if I've told that story before.

I'm just glad we don't suspect Donnie John of finding a new meat source in disappeared migrants, because frankly, I wouldn't put it past him.

Ta, Rebecca. Ta, Martini. We're sipping flowery green tea and enjoying luscious fruit bowls; I have the best husband! No eclipse for us last night; we had a drenching rainstorm. Nothing better than rain on a metal roof. Good day, beloved Wonketteers. We love and appreciate you all and we bless us all with love, health, peace, and grace.

Please, please stay safe. Wear a mask or two, wash your hands, sanitize when you cannot wash and let the sanitizer dry completely, stop touching your face, take Vitamin D, get a booster shot six months after your last (and get kids in your household vaccinated also, too), and stay the fuck away from us or anyone with whom you do not share a roof. Do this because you love yourself, and because we love you, too. Do this in memory of 27 Club member Treg, Holly's heroic pilot friend Tony, and around eight million dead worldwide (maybe including FukuiSanYesOta; he had long COVID and that can lead to cardiac arrest). Do this to honor the nurses and other frontline medical personnel (we love and appreciate you, medicos of Wonkette, including retirees), especially ICU Hera Mrs Land Shark RN. Please, please stay safe. When we vote, we WIN!

I love you, darling. I'll just assume the eclipse did not happen since we were not able to see it. Happy Friday to all Wonks who celebrate!

"No eclipse for us last night; we had a drenching rainstorm"

That's sounds like lyrics from a Van Morrison song that no one knows about. Cool.

I would like to think the horror show from Nepal would move the needle but all of the past climate related disasters have failed to move any needles. The needle moving needs to come from the giant oil and transportation industries, the oligarchies posing as democracies; these are the assholes responsible.

The deniers NEVER want to say that it's OUR actions that have caused this. They always say that the earth has had warming and cooling naturally since forever.

VaselineHabits's avatar

Right, it almost seemed like they'd be more willing to acknowledge it *if* it meant they didnt need to be blamed or change behaviors.

I'm sure rich assholes would lose SOME money (not even all of it!) and that's the main driver behind the denial.

Sportscasting legend Al Michaels drilled President Donald Trump on Thursday during an NFL exhibition game on Prime Video Thursday.

As the camera panned the Cleveland Browns’ stadium and downtown area from above, Michaels snarked: “That is Lake Erie. We think it is still called Lake Erie up on the right. We’re not quite sure at this point. But we’ll be by Lake Something like Ontario or whatever it’s going to be called by the time we get to Buffalo.” (Prime Video will be broadcasting a Week 2 game in Buffalo, which also abuts Lake Erie but is near Lake Ontario.)

“Anyway, you know what I’m talking about,” Michaels continued. “Read the news.”

I didn't hate Rich Dad, Poor Dad when I read it, but I'm also not surprised to learn that the author is MAGA and that it was a WORK OF FICTION. He may have never actually met the "rich dad" in the title!

From the article, after he spent a few weeks at a retreat trying to process the PTSD from the Vietnam War “On the final Sunday, I got this blinding revelation,” he tells me. “I’m a liar. I’m a liar and a cheat. That’s why I was always in trouble.”

Yep, dude. And you didn't change your ways at all after your revelation.

Anyway, the 1.2 billion in debt is the amount owed by some real estate LLCs that lease apartments, so it's not quite as dramatic as he's making it out to be.

See, this is the problem with having a president and a govt that lies to you constantly. We will never be able to trust that the meat is beef instead of horse. Even if they showed us a lab's analysis of the meat, we would all just yell "it's a fake" as if we were republicans discussing Obama's birth certificate. SIGH.

We also can't believe jobs numbers, inflation data or any useful reportage that used to come from thoughtful, non partisans. Now, everything is juiced to make trmp look good. It's the government's only function.

Rosy red ASS's avatar

I am not a big fan of beaf or red meat generally and I don't want to run the risk of eating horse. I know a few people have stated that they ate horse meat and loved it but I have ALWAYS been a huge horse girl and to me it would be like eating dolphin. Hubs successfully avoided eating dolphin when he lived in Japan years ago even though people tried really hard to take him to eat it. I am eating less meat these days.

Jen Is Journalisming's avatar

Eating less meat is something we should do anyway for many reasons. Better for us, better for the environment. Not necessarily better for our chattel animals what with meat farms being what they are, but maybe less consumption by us will lead to fewer of them getting treated that way

YaJagoff's avatar

I'm eating less red meat these days because of the prices of beef.

Martini, everyday you outdo yourself from the day before! Like cockatoos on David Letterman riding a skateboard to the National Car and Truck Rental jingle, this parrot on a child’s choo choo raises a smile!

OT: In Royal Family News, King Harald of Norway is dead. Long live King Haakon! (See, that wasn’t that emotional, now was it? Why can’t the British RF be more like Norway? DJT, Norwegians already have a King, and they like him. At least, I think they do. As an American of German and Swedish ancestry, I can’t read the facial expression of Norskis. Are they sad, happy, or passing gas from too much pickled herring and cheese?)

eppe's avatar

Since the Norske seem to enjoy cross-country skiing in minus 20 weather for at least 8 months of the year it may just be that their facial muscles are frozen in place.
