For one thing, going from immigrant to member of congress in a single generation demonstrates jaw-dropping acculturation to the new place. In Minneapolis, virtually all of the Somali newcomers now speak excellent English, and their children have Minnesota accents, don'tcha know. Nearly everyone but the old and disabled have jobs or are in school. What more assimilation do people expect? It's pretty clear that Carlson doesn't know the first thing about Somalis. He should just shut his gob. I had the privilege of voting for Omar. People here like the job she does. This is called Democracy.
