The Thin Blue Line We aren't sure we'd have predicted this earlier in the week, but Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Terence Crutcher last Friday. Shelby shot Crutcher after his SUV broke down in the middle of a road; video showed he had his hands up and did not appear to be making any threatening movements. Shelby's attorney had claimed it was a justified shooting
How about "I'll start taking care of ISIS" when Obama's been systematically driving them back, extremely effectively, for two years? Or "I'll build a wall," when under Obama, immigration is at a net zero? Have to stop because I can feel my blood pressure rising and Nurse says I have to be careful now.
That's one of the reasons I'm so proud of the cops in Linden NJ during Rahami's arrest. They were in a damned *gun battle* yet managed to shoot to wound, not kill, despite being fired upon. I can't really call it my old home town, since we only lived there for a year when I was five, but that was fine police work.
If you want to know more, Radley Balko's 'The Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America's Police Forces' is excellently written history. He writes for magazines like Reason, too.
There's a much more familiar word for that stuff: bullshit. Trump's full of enough of it to turn the whole of California's agricultural sector organic.
Don't forget rap music, baseball players, football players, basketball players....
"anything short of porcelain white skin would be grounds for deadly force"
FTFY

And dick jokes, as we say in the Shire.

They're better with vodka.
Now that she's been charged, can stories be illustrated by her mugshot instead of that damn oh-so-wholesome cop graduation photo?
Well, THAT'S disappointing!
Did the Charlotte cops remember to press the gun into Scott's hand so it would have his fingerprints on it? It's the little details that trip you up.
Very nicely put!!
Yeah, but... http://m.news9.com/story.as...
Um, please don't look at any pictures of me ... (or be kind...)
Interestingly its main competition seems to be South Carolina.
It's as if police violence isn't quite the partisan issue you might imagine when comparing and contrasting the conservative and liberal blogospheres.
Sure as shit isn't any room for liberal complacency on the issue, what with Officer Pantaleo getting first a no-bill and then a pay raise.
