I remember being given a March of Dimes collection thingie, where you were supposed to stick all your dimes in there and then send it off once it was full.
If the baby was already at the point of viability, and if it was developing healthily, and the family wanted it, I could see doing that, as a "we want to let it develop naturally as much as possible before we remove it" kind of thing. It'd be rough on the kid -- "sorry, your mom died before you were born" -- but they'd probably make okay if the family was decent. If it was a couple of weeks away from viability and the family *didn't* want it, I could almost see trying to persuade the family into letting it develop enough to be removed and then given up for adoption. But if they said no, or any of those first conditions were untrue, then no. Sorry, fetal tissue, you're going to die with the rest of your host.
