I have a 401k through my employer, and it's down about 4K as of the last report I got from the company. I remember years ago talking to one of the money guys about divesting from extraction industry stocks, and what basically amounted to the oh, you, such a silly girl I got in reply.
No way in fucking hell my money would be in stocks right now. Shit's about to hit the fan with the forced re-openings. Waiting for a strike by the meat-packing workers, who are unionized - despite Refucklican efforts to punish them for refusing to work in the death factories.
Most people who are donating to a 401K are in some sort of time phased index fund based on their age and expected retirement date. That's the default when you hire on unless you opt out, and most people just leave it that way. They don't know anything about investing and Vanguard doesn't let you do anything to outside the box.
I agree that there are very rocky times ahead but part of the reason that the Stock Market is rebounding despite all of this is those home bound worker bees diligently socking money down that 401K rat hole. What's the end? I surely do not know
