Confronting a cult member with facts does not work. They don't reach the place they're at with reason, so they cannot be reasoned out of it. Often they're lonely people and the belief in conspiracy theories provides them with a community and a sense of purpose.

I think the pandemic has made things considerably worse for these people - they were not the best at adapting to new situations at the outset, and this is a situation that demands a lot of adapating. This is not a situation they can control, or get any meaning out of, and the lockdown measures have made loneliness even worse. For many the cult has been the only community they have interacted with daily for months.

When I interact with these people I just... don't engage. They want to talk about anything else, then fine. But when the ranting starts, bye.

Because the worst thing we want is people buying stuff, you know because we are a consumer-based economy, and when people stop buying stuff, economy goes pffftt....People forget that it was actually FDR who encouraged shopping on Black Friday. I wish some of these asshats had taken Econ 101 before they write this crap.

I'm sure Republican voters in Georgia pay close attention to the NY Post and WSJ editorials.

This is the most pitiful effort at ass-covering - way too late to be of use to anyone, including that withered ballsack Murdoch.

Nah, just Advanced Theoretical Evil, which the Chicago School of Economists has long since cornered the market on. They always bear the bell away.

Yes, there is no logic to people being recruited into this evil and insidious cult.

It is truly, truly tragic. I wish you well and hope your brother finds his way out.

“ tax every single Wall St. trade or transaction”

I like this idea. We pay taxes on income. Aren’t trades and transactions income?

I feel the same way and thought that after enough ex-Trump officials spilled their guts about the truth that the Cult would start to listen. Alas, they are destined to do all they can to destroy the country. I have neighbors, relatives and old friends that I despise now.
