Can there be legal repercussions for these motherfuckers once dems are back it power? Is what they're doing 'illegal' enough to press charges and convict?

Mark Linimon's avatar

What, like "following illegal orders"?

belfryo's avatar

I would HOPE. I just don't don't know. The bar for holding this filth accountable has been WAYYYY too high. I just hope that law suits are being filed en masse so we will be on record for having taken action when that action can have some teeth

From Google AI in response to "definition of terrorism":

Terrorism is the calculated use of violence or the threat of violence against people or property to create fear and intimidate or coerce governments, societies, or populations to achieve political, religious, or ideological goals. Common elements include the use of violence, the intent to cause fear, targeting civilians or non-combatants, and having a political or ideological motive.

ICE is a terrorist organization. Any questions?

My son use to wear a bosun whistle around his neck until someone asked him if it was a rape whistle. He then acted out the likely scenario, " Help I'm being raped, ... at sea"

"They’re Schrödinger's Nazis."

Kudos on the Schrodinger's Cat reference.

Looks for all the world like they're "accelerating" if only to get out of town before being hit with a restraining order from the local federal district court.

Plus, the agency has no detention center in the state, so any arrest requires lots of transportation and personnel to effect. Time isn't on their side.

That said, there's no clear idea where their NC detainees have gone. And there's no independent corroboration of the agency's reported arrest numbers. Low chance the actual figures are higher than reported.

Could be just as likely this was largely a Potemkin operation -- with real bullying and broken windows -- made for an audience of two or three in Washington.

Got my whistle. They’re going to be here in New Orleans during Carnival. They aren’t going to know what they’re dealing with. Glitter bombs!

"M"'s avatar

I thought the glitter bomb idea was genius ✨

Instant ID of invaders

Regret's avatar

You think being covered in glitter IDs you as ICE? During Carnival?! Everyone will be covered in glitter!

All praise to these citizens!

I don't know about anyone else but wouldn't living in the Shetlands be a nice idea?

The politics over here has gotten so toxic 😔

Jimmy Perez has things well in hand.

Absolutely love that series I've watched it maybe five times!

The lack of trees doesn't seem welcoming to this woodworker

Herr Snackmeier's avatar

Sure. Take pictures of trees with you, so you remember what they look like, and get a sunlight lamp for those long, dark winters.

I have alot of good friends in Charlotte, and let me assure you, they are well accustomed to handling aggressive, outta town redneck dipshits.

Bless Josh Stein for being the only decent politician left in NC...

Hank Napkin's avatar

Buck said. "Things have not been going their (Republicans') way lately. "

Actually the problem Republicans have is that things ARE going their way, and only their way, and that their way is the way of cruel, rancid shit laced with Plutonium (Symbol PU).

Zyxomma's avatar

Ta, Dok. Just by happenstance, we're in NC this weekend. We're not that far from Charlotte, but we're also not in it. We went to a funeral that brought people together, not a deportationfest that tore them apart.

Asphalt-Type Person's avatar

The two ends of NC are beautiful, the mountains on the west ant the beach on the east.

Trouble is, there's 400+ miles of nothing in between...

You've never stood on a Chatham County hilltop and watched a golden sunset dip below the forested horizon.

Sad for you.

"DHS goons can take advantage of the big Blackshirt Friday deals"

The ICEholes aren't looking forward to Blackshirt Friday 'cuz they ain't the Blackshirts. They're the Brownshirted SA (Sturmabteilung) in the current regime. And like most who's brawn far exceeds their brains they're too stupid to know world history so they'll be totes surprised when the American Night of the Long Knives comes for them.

-----

"pretended DHS had singlehandedly eliminated crime there"

I guess the storm troopers sent to Charlotte lack the skills of those sent to secure the streets of Washington so the WORMs™ (White Old RINO Men) can feel safe again.

Ok, but there's no such thing as Brown Friday.

Like, unless the turkey was seriously undercooked.

Erisian's avatar

Well, there is that. Plus poetic license and all.

A seriously undercooked bird would have both a brown and green (the top end) Friday. That's based on my two times with food poisoning.

Let them try to get between a shopper and a big-screen TV. Let them just try.

(Seriously, how cheap do those things have to get? They're already a fraction of what I paid for mine. Only with the Genius in Chief and his tariffs, who knows now.)

Or between me and a table with a couple fresh donuts and a hot cup of coffee. (G-dess, how I miss Dunkin' Donuts back when it really was a donut shop, but the two mom-and-pop bakeries within 20 minutes of me are both righteous.) It definitely costs me more now with the non-tax on Brazilian coffee beans because the Fulvous Fuckwad didn't like how his bud, Bolsonaro, was treated after his failed coup.

I want to know where are the Democrats in Congress who are denouncing the thuggery of ICE personnel. It seems to all be local activists, mayors and governors, but so few Congressmen. This seems like the perfect topic to energize voters on. ICE doesn't care if you are a citizen, to them we are all the enemy. Demanding the end to ICE's jackbooted deportation activities ought to be the rallying cry for all elected officials.

Kerrie Thomas's avatar

defending the indefensible, my Republican Senator in NC actually said: “I want to make sure that Homeland Security can provide me with the definitive list of people who were detained, how long they were detained, whether or not they were released and, when property was damaged, whether or not they’ve been provided proper restitution,” Tillis said, in the hearing. “We’re the party of law and order, and I want to make sure that we’re also orderly in the process of enforcing it.”

The "party of law and order" part was pretty rich though. Other R's of course have been lying d-bags about it.

cdr3's avatar

You are absolutely right. As usual, our democratic congress members seem to be missing in action while ICE does its piss poor imitation of law enforcement.

"M"'s avatar

The WHITE ones are missing in action

Rep Jasmine is doing town halls

AOC is quoted several times in the article

Maybe those folks right here in the noncomments who are unhappy with representation need to rouse themselves and make a few calls

The moral degeneracy of Dump and his enablers has enraged and sorrowed me. This is no longer the antifa country my parents and I swore to protect from " all enemies foreign and domestic". They have betrayed their oath of office and, therefore are committing treason. Forgive me, but hanging is too good for them.

Regret's avatar

I will never understand the phrase "hanging is too good for them", I'm not killing them for their benefit, I am killing them for everyone else's benefit. And for everyone else's benefit it is important that it is fast and over quickly. Their emotions are irrelevant.

Bitter Scribe's avatar

What enrages and sorrows me is that a majority of my fellow countrymen gave them the power they now have.

EyeQueue's avatar

This. I now have a super dim view of my fellow Americans that I didn't have prior to the pandemic. :(
