As a TesticuloAmerican I readily acknowledge that anyone on the women's national soccer team is faster and stronger than I am. Maybe it's a bad idea to overgeneralize, hennngh?
I bet they gnash their teeth and wail about the news 3 times per week. It's difficult but someone has to do "something close to nothing but different than the day before."
I'm about to get very annoyed here b/c there is so much blatant bad faith going into the arguments being offered up. I am absolutely in favor of an equal pay scale for the women. But the framing of the argument is complete bullshit. The mens NT made the WC seven straight times from 1990-2014. They missed out in 2018. There have been other major men's teams who have failed to qualify during that time span. So let's cut the shit about how much of a failure the USMNT is. There is absolutely no comparison between what it takes to qualify for the WC between the two events. The women don't have to go to El Salvador, Hondurus, Haiti, etc...and take abuse, have shit thrown at them playing on shitty fields in hostile stadiums. The CONCACAF qualifying for the mens WC lasts 16 months; the women less than 3, with Olympic qualifying less than 2 weeks.
The conflict is not about a full time salary. Playing for the NT is not a full time job. Stop trying to make it appear that women are making 7.25/hr playing 40 times per year vs men making 725 K per game playing 15 times. It's disingenuous and untrue.
To me, one issue is how money from sponsorship deals US Soccer has with companies is divvied up. P&G puts millions into marketing for the NT, but is most of it going to the women? Another is US Soccer not allowing, or being very reluctant to letting women play in overseas leagues, where they would command better salaries.
Framing this as a zero sum game--the men suck and don't deserve anything--is specious bullshit. The merits of equal pay are enough w/o the extra crap. The fact that the USMNT players are siding with the women is a good sign.
LOL
Should they lose a match? Pay them. Footie is harder than it looks.
Which really is almost as bad as coordinating with the president to hang mike pence.
I bet this guy gets a lot of dates.
If we pay Megan Rapinoe fairly, maybe she'll stop making Subway commercials.
(j/k -- if she can make a buck shilling for crappy sandwiches more power to her)
I can't believe how big they went on that, Steph Curry, Serena, and Brady too.

I say the women's team should just show up ready to play in 1800s suffragette dresses with parasols.
A common Cletus/Karen sentiment: "I don't think the taxpayers should have to pay for –––––––––; I think the government should have to pay for it."
Right up there with "Keep the government's hands off my Medicare."
