You know, a lot of people are triggered by terrible things that have happened in our lives. I'm sorry I didn't edit my post, I was at work and just didn't think about it. But jumping down my throat and doubting the sincerity of my apology is not the way of going about it. Asking someone to edit a post politely may have been the way to go about it, not jumping on someone and accusing them of being insincere.
Great, though it could go further. Six dollars to cash a check seems outragous to me, and can't they issue debit cards, too? Here in Mexico, where a much larger percentage of people don't have banking access, cashing remittances is a challenge (let alone being robbed carrying a load of cash) "Banco de Bienistar" has has been set up by the goverment, to serve (at least initially) communities without banks... considering a lot of those places don't have WiFi or/or electricity, it also means the state is upgrading broadband access and expanding rural electricification to allow for ATMs in the hinterlands, as well as banking to those small depositors the corporate banks screw over otherwise.
Does the US still have postal money orders? They were a staple back in the day when personal checks were a thing, and you needed to order something by mail, and local checks were considered dubious.
I did ask you politely. Your response was completely negated by your non-action. I think people should actually follow through if they say something. I'm glad you made the change.

Do you think the Post Office has no costs to cover? Machinery, staff, light bills are not free. They are not setting out to make a profit, but neither should they get no money. This is not Mexico, after all.
True... but couldn't it be a percentage of the check, or the entire transaction? I can imagine a person cashing 2 or 3 small checks for 20 or 30 dollars each, and really being dinged. Like I said, the pilot program could be more ambitious.
I restarted mine so I could have check # 0001 which I never had b/c in the olden times having a # that low was a credit risk. My Savings & Loan (remember those?) started my checks at something like 555.
Isn't Iran's constitution better for women than ours??
Converting to the Turtle Shit Standard might affect the USA's credit score.
This is a good news. Yay!
We're behind on pretty much everything. That's how it is when the people running the country insist on dragging you backwards by decades or centuries.

Love the O Superman reference.
I used to order my checks starting with a higher number like 500 when I was moving around and switching banks a lot.

Of course, I was expecting a box of donuts left in their lobby

Since you are in Mexico, what do you care?
