The Trump and Wall St money traders want a V shaped recovery. With a resurge of cases after the tsunami of stupid re-openings, some predict a W shaped chart of economic activity. For half of the 30 million recently unemployed it will be an ‘L’ shaped recovery.......there won’t be one. The next stimulus money approved, (if they can work out the corporations-have-no-liability for anything clause), should be only for food, food stamps, food pantries, food banks, and getting food that was going to be plowed under to hungry communities. Trump is planning a July 4th grand reopening celebration, while the country is planning funerals.
Normally you'd think they could be penalized or sued SOMEHOW for PURPOSEFULLY endangering employees, but they're probably following Mitch mcConnell's lead and hoping they'll get those rules that make employers immune from repercussions of their dickery. Capitalism! Absolutely NOTHING wrong with it at all, you filthy, lazy communists!
My guess: job losses are going to continue to rise. Some businesses will try to reopen without appropriate abatement policies, creating hot spots. In some cases, these hot spots will spread out and affect a whole state. People will pull back so that even businesses that reopen will not have customers. This will be a vortex that sucks us right into a Depression. Just a guess. Or summer sunshine, as my idiot libertarian brother in law believes, will kill the virus and everything will be over in July.
Essential workers? or sacrificial? Even the half wits should be able to figure out what would happen to THEM, now that they are hoarding groceries, if all our brothers and sisters in the fields and slaughterhouses would be deported back ‘to where they can from’.
