Interesting point of confusion: because of the posterior revelations of the Mormon faith, and the fact that its theosophy is deeply entwined with the United States as a nation as well as the <i>chosen</i> nation, American law is a fundamental text. Which explains why they frequently fight tooth and nail to prevent it from being changed when those changes go against existing teaching: they literally have to change their religion to remain in line with their own beliefs when that happens.

Hmmm. I think the Federal government should follow the precedent it has already set when dealing with Utah. Just move the state's borders inward until the land in question is on the outside.
