We had a work town hall on Zoom this morning and it came with a vaccine mandate for all staff. Until two weeks have passed since the second shot, weekly PCR tests with negative results sent to the boss and positive results to HR so they can keep track of individuals in isolation. Hooray!

Here's the link. I admit, posting plugs here is my main source of traffic. In fairness, I'm making absolutely no money.https://trendytroodon.blogs...

Or you're losing your home and will be destitute with your kids because your significant other's paycheck isn't there any longer.

Well, I'm a liberal. What is it about this that I hate? Maybe you shouldn't generalize quite so much.

>Vaccinated people's lives are for shit in both countries, unless you were already into never leaving the house

Only in areas where they've spotted a case (yes, NSW is a big area), for as long as it takes to suppress the spread. Aside from that they've been living normal lives, restaurants and pubs and everything.

New Zealander here. Our slow vaccine rollout was due to:1) the government deciding to buy only Pfizer, because it's the most effective with least side-effects;2) until the Delta outbreak beginning 2 weeks ago, we had been entirely COVID-free for six months, so we deliberately stepped aside so that countries where the virus was rampant could be prioritised. You're welcome. Imagine that - our lives were COMPLETELY normal for a while.

Also, 2/3 of the country has had lockdown eased (not lifted yet) as of today, because the virus has been restricted to 1 city, unfortunately our largest. Compare this with the state of New South Wales in Australia, where there are 1000+ new cases a day because their conservative government gave up on the elimination strategy. I should also note that anti-vaxxers in this country are a tiny lunatic fringe - our biggest anti-lockdown demonstration attracted FOUR (4) crazies.

Lockdown fuckin' sucks, but it's giving us the chance to get back to zero COVID - something which people from snarky countries can only dream about. With the current outbreak, the vaccine uptake is now something like 1.6% of the population getting a dose every day - updated figures show 45.13% of the population having received at least one dose as of August 29.

I'm tired of Americans spreading "alternative facts" about my country which happen to support their argument, either from the Left or the Right. It's almost like some of these Brit or US commenters are JEALOUS that our elimination strategy worked for so long and they've gleeful pouncing on the current proof that it's not perfect.

For people who want ACTUAL facts about the situation in New Zealand, not Stephen's "alternative facts" version, here's a very good and somewhat snarky local news source: https://thespinoff.co.nz/po...

American here. We are jealous about DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING you have in New Zealand...from your Hobbits to your universal healthcare to your competent government to your scenic views to your topless beaches and legal weed and high literacy rates and low maternal mortality rates...I could go on. Why isn't every place like New Zealand? Also England needs to give your Navy more credit for your assistance during the Falklands war and your WWII tractor tanks were pragmatic genius. Just saying.

"The largest carrot ever grown was 19 pounds; grown by John Evans in 1998 in Palmer, Alaska" Alaska has grown the largest (name any vegetable) for decades - I've seen pictures of cabbages as large as people - Guinness notes for the record a 138 pound cabbage

Don't forget affordable lamb and all the fine products of Macpac , i personally use their Cascade backpack and their fine Microlite tent. That said the COVID strategy that worked in New Zealand would not have worked in much of the world,
