To be fair and balanced, they responded in the same way when Daniel Pearl was beheaded in Pakistan in 2002. And when Nick Berg was beheaded in Iraq in 2004. At least I assume they did. Apparently my google is broken and can't find their condemnation of Dubya.

Maybe the President has asked his military and intel people to come up with a plan, but they aren&#039;t talking about it <b>because they don&#039;t want to tip off the guys holding an American hostage.</b> And so the President is keeping up with his usual schedule to avoid suspicion (sorta like he did when OBL got it in the brainpan).
