aThe city where my father's family has been based since shortly after the Revolutionary War and where I took classes in North Crackalacka history had a fucking armed coup d'etat in 1898. I only found out about it 10 years ago or so.
Somewhere, there's a lawsuit waiting to happen. It won't go anywhere because of the current makeup of our judiciary (especially in places like Florida), but we gotta fight the good fight anyway. Tie them up in court, make them say the quiet parts out loud (and under oath), for all to see. Sure, they'll appeal, and they'll win because of all the RWNJ's on the courts, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make them work for it.
I've heard that men tend to underuse commas, and women tend to overuse them. Any attempt to teach proper comma placement in our public schools is going to end up with someone feeling uncomfortable. Maybe we should remove all the commas from all the books and burn them.
I've seen bigots argue online that "race is a protected class, and that means we need single-race facilities like schools. Otherwise it would be racial discrimination."This was in an argument supposedly about trans people and the threat we pose to "sex-based rights."
And the kicker is that I genuinly can't tell if the person saying that is really that ill-informed or if they are just trolling.
You appear to have gone one step further and used an Oxford full stop* in the sentence above. (Oxford is in England; "Oxford period" would be an obscenity.)
A company lost a trademark infringement case because of a missing Oxford comma. Their trademark application stated that the trademark would be used in conjunction with A, B and C. The company being sued argued that the trademark protection covered the trademark holder if someone was engaged in A or both B and C. The company being sued was only engaged in B. The court agreed with their argument.
When I first heard about the 1898 coup, I went to the public library in Wilmington to get more info. The research librarian told me it wasn't true and there was no information. This ca. 1992.
There is an episode in one of Sai King's books (Dreamcatcher?) where the protagonist forces the evil Alien to eat raw bacon and mayo on white bread sandwiches. Hilarity ensues.
Ever notice that nothing pisses off a racist more that calling out their racism?
Yes!As if they know it's wr-wr-wr-wr-wrong....
I take it we still can't get the Bible out of school libraries?
BARF....

That would explain a lot. Exaggerated displays of hyper-masculinity to cover up sexual loathing and self-hate.
Edit: While making this non-comment, Yoda, by "Weird Al" Yankovic, came up on shuffle.
It reminds me of that saying "a hit dog hollers."

Why not both?
