Does anyone remember Megs' stupid blog she had 100 years ago where the main picture was of her boobs with her face in the background like she was photobombing a picture of her own boobs? Now *those* were some qualifications!! <vomit emoji="">

Interesting point. The people I know from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka call themselves South Asian. I’ve never heard any objections to being considered part of the greater Asian community, but there might be inter-community discussions I’m not aware of.

Serious question -- I understand that "Asian" is now construed to mean people from India, China, Japan, Indonesia and etc.; but are people in those nations totally cool with this collective identity? Would having a Pakistani person in the cabinet be equivalent to having a Vietnamese person? I'm not trolling or sea-lioning. I'm not completely clear on the implications because it's a recent change.

That's the thing. I don't understand this. I've seen many occasions where a woman TV personality supposedly has a makeup artist and/or hairstylist who hates her, but the evidence is a lot more subtle. The woman in question could take a cursory look at herself in the mirror and not see what was done. But McCain's hair is just completely absurd. I simply can't believe that she didn't consent to having these ludicrous styles visited upon her, because otherwise she'd have said something. She wouldn't go out on the stage looking like THAT if she didn't want to. This isn't badly blended makeup or a hairstyle with ragged ends. Her whole getup is ridiculous from the start. I'm much more inclined to believe that she's got some idea that she's avant garde or she's engaged in some sort of Warholesque trolling rather than believing that a hairstylist and a makeup artist did that to her and she was completely powerless to stop it or demand changes.

Here's a wee little point that's really been bugging me: isn't The View, of all places actively about identity in terms of hosts? Their set up isn't taking some blind entrance exam, may the best host win. Don't they/shouldn't they supposedly want a variety of identities in order to provide a variety of viewpoints to chat and clash? It seems like a weird argument from that angle.
