My mother-in-law is in her 80s and no one could convince her to take this virus seriously for weeks. This really upset my wife and her two brothers. I think my father-in-law has finally gotten through to her, but I’m not sure.

Btw, she lives in Lancaster County, PA, which has over 1300 cases at last count.

Wheee! My home county!

I live in Tri-Cities, essentially one small suburban city, mostly liberal and educated. Maybe 200,000 people within a stone's throw. Surrounded by countless miles of ranch, orchard, vineyard, and sand.

Seagulls fly overhead, sometimes pelicans migrate through. (I live about one mile from the second biggest river in North America,) Quail, coyotes, eagles, cougars. No bears or moose or elk; they'd be a ways down the road in the mountains.

My training buddy once asked me to help put on a martial arts demo for his prepper pack. They were polite, but they thought they were talking to an old white man, friend of a friend. They were all Anglos; no Blacks, Hispanics, or First Nation - mostly farmers. Nazis. Sovereign citizens. They all felt ...beseiged. The city folks were trying to take over, using votes. Good cherry cobbler, though.

I kind of wonder if when rep Sutherland really needs the police for something if the 911 operator is going to ask him if he wants them to send some “goons” to help

The economy is not the problem. It's a symptom. The problem is the pandemic. We need to fix that first; then we can work on the economy.

If you were staying indoors because the world was infested with rabid werewolves would you feel safe going out because there seemed to be fewer werewolves around? Of course if one bites you, you become a rabid werewolf too and the number go right back up.

I know that I'm supposed to be a good person and not want anyone to get sick or die of COVID.

And I don't.

But my God I wish they would stop testing me.
