Perpetual rage machine and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson is really, really mad that Planned Parenthood is getting rich off trafficking in murdered baby parts (which it isn't, but shut up, he knows it is). Not only is he demanding a government shutdown if funding for Planned Parenthood isn't immediately aborted, he also says that if the GOP doesn't have the huevos to completely bring government to a halt over a bunch of misleadingly edited videos, then it's damn well time for conservatives to destroy the Republican Party. More. Maybe they could start a whole new party just for anti-abortion absolutists, with a bloody fetus hanging on a cross for its symbol.

Erickson has been on a tear about the need to shut the government down over funding of Planned parenthood since last week, and he knows the organization is getting rich off selling baby parts, because he read about it on Twitter: Â
According to testimony into Planned Parenthood’s practices in Texas, Planned Parenthood of Houston alone makes $120,000.00 a month from the deaths of children and the harvesting of their organs.
Why, that's outrageous! And it's an absolutely proven fact, except for the tiny detail that the testimony came from a former PP employee who's now become a "pro-lifer" and who has no proof -- she just knows this for sure: Â
Also, please ignore the detail that federal law already prohibits the use of federal funds for abortions. That Planned Parenthood gets money to keep the lights on while it provides cancer screenings, contraception, pelvic exams, and other health services means that your tax dollars really are paying for abortions, because it just does. And Erick, Son of Erick, is not going to let congressional leadership get away with subsidizing "carving up kids and harvesting their organs." Never mind that even if they get enough votes to defund Planned Parenthood, President Obama has promised a veto ; if Mitch McConnell and John Boehner fail to shut down the government until enough votes miraculously appear to override that veto, then Erick the Redstate demands retribution:
Friends, if Republicans in Congress will not stop giving tax payer dollars to the American Joseph Mengele, we should show the party violence in the polling booth.
The national media will not cover the savage butchery of Planned Parenthood. Forcing this fight in Congress will force coverage. They will spin it against us, but every congressman who speaks up should stand surrounded by the images of butchered children so that all Americans can see what we are fighting for.
Yup. With a bunch of wingnut congressmen waving bloody fetus pictures all over CSPAN, surely Americans will reverse their majority support for Planned Parenthood, because nothing persuades us like turning the floor of the House into an Operation Rescue sidewalk demonstration.

By Friday, Erickson was going even more fully apeshit, deciding that comparing abortion to the Holocaust was actually far too mild:
We have passed the point where Nazi comparisons are inappropriate. In the latest video about Planned Parenthood, if you want to watch it, you will see an admission that some of the children are born alive before being killed and carved up — their bodies being sold essentially for scrap.
Got it. Worse than Hitler. Welcome to Post-Godwin America. We are a nation desperately in search of new forms of hyperbole, because we have finally worn out the Holocaust as a metaphor. And again, Erickson calls for an end to the Republican Party if it's not willing to make a desperate last stand, because let's be honest, if it doesn't agree with Erick Erickson, it's already dead:
If Republicans are not willing to make this their hill to die on and even see the government shutdown to stop this, the Republican Party needs to be shut down.
The Party of Lincoln that rose from the ashes of a whig Party that would not stand up to slavery must stand up to this evil. The American public is staring evil in the face and it looks a lot like them. It must end.
If Abraham Lincoln’s party will not fight to stop a practice that defends itself with the same arguments used by proponents of slavery, it is time for a new party.
Funny, we sort of missed the part where Planned Parenthood is saying that abortions are necessary to support our agrarian economy. But if we claim that a woman's right to choose is exactly like a personal version of States' Rights and shout about tariffs a lot, maybe that analogy will make sense somehow? Oh, hey, speaking of that Party of Lincoln stuff, Erick has some thoughts on that, too:
The sick irony of President Barack Obama’s administration is that he often compares himself to Abraham Lincoln. But he is perfectly happy to let Planned Parenthood sell off black children in bits and pieces as someone else’s property.
Why, yes, that is a perfectly sane analogy. Abortion is both the Holocaust and slavery, and while we're at it, it's probably also the Armenian Genocide and Stalin's purge of the Kulaks.
In any case, we wish Erick luck with his crusade. Screaming that the GOP must be dismembered and sold for scrap ought to win him a lot of support. Maybe he could tell his supporters to send Congress a whole bunch of crap in the mail again.
