This glimpse into How Washington Works could make you slightly crazy: HuffPo's Ryan Grim tells Rachel Maddow about the package of aid to Ukraine that moved forward in the Senate Monday, and why it may stall -- not because Congress hates Ukraine, but because the bill reforms how the International Monetary Fund moves money around. It's a technical reform that the U.S. agreed to four years ago but that the Senate never passed, because it is the U.S. Senate after all. And the provision could be a deal-breaker, because teabaggers in the House don't like foreigners or the IMF.
But Drew Barrymore does the same thing. Although it was once much worse (say, about the time she performed in "Olive the Other Raindeer").
PS: If oral made one talk out the side of one's mouth, at this point in my life I'd be nibbling my own ear.
So the IMF can still demand privatization of state assets including utilities (soaring water and energy rates), an end to local market farms and the change to farming for international trade (soaring food prices and forced embrace of Big Ag chemicals), and the end of residents' pensions and insurance, all for horrendous loans the nation can never pay back?
This new colonialism is more sophisticated that the old slash and burn techniques.
The 30-odd "Defund Obamacare" votes were stand-alones because the Tea Baggers wanted to call attention to them.
In these cases - an IMF accounting change or to get the IRS to stop doing its work - they want to pull it off behind the scenes. So Canadian-born Sen. Raphael Cruz lies about it and they tuck the changes into completely unrelated legislation (or hold other legislation hostage for it).
I watched this piece on Rachel Maddow last night, and it was a great example of the fine work she does. A detailed presentation of the news, with facts to back it up. She shed light on what was really going on.
I do wish she didn't feel she had to repeat every important statement three or four times, like a teacher addressing the slow kids. Just saying it once (or even twice) without waving her hands around would still make her point.
Sadly, her little brother Chris Hayes has adopted the same tic.
Why does Rachel Maddow talk out of the side of her mouth like she just snorted five or six lines?

Throw in free hoverounds and you will have a stampede.
Can't we just send Cruz, Mittens and a platoon of Mormons on bikes over to Crimea?
May not solve their problems, but it'll sure solve some of ours.
the talking animals certainly make more sense than the shouting teabaggers
How about always? Does always work for us?

Our entire political process now revolves around elections. With predictable non-results.
Talking animals? You're talking Doolittle. Wait. That's Congress.
No doubt that lately the US Congress has been a "Pushmi-pullyu."
I tried to read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" but it got so damned depressing I simply couldn't finish it.
Free advice to every world leader the US doesn't care for: "Don't get into that airplane!"

They'd rather pass a kidney stone.
