Were small arms sales in the U.S. declining so badly that gun manufacturers had to go sculpt Mr. LaPierre from horse shit to head the NRA ? International sales offer a much larger market and do not require the effort necessary to keep the NRA full of fresh shit.
It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Some nut murders a kid(s), people are outraged and demand something be done, the NRA raises money by scaring the crazies. No gun control at all isn't what they want, it would ruin them.
