<We Continue To Be Led By Morons>

Moron this later as the story continues to develop.

G-7 in Space's avatar

They are starting to March

Fifth Dentist's avatar

So Sen. Foghorn Cornpone thinks troops shouldn't be sent in.

That means nothing will change. Iran isn't going to cry uncle from bombing, and that was tried for 40 days earlier this year.

The Vietnamese took more than twice the tonnage of bombs dropped by all combatants during World War II, with the bombing lasting nearly a decade and guess what? They didn't unconditionally surrender.

As usual, this comes down to having the stupidest person on the planet in charge of the country and someone almost as stupid running the war.

PAB was told we're running out of oil soon, so he made a huge deal out of a MOU that he never even read and didn't understand -- not surprising as the list of things he understands could be written with a Sharpie on the back of a postage stamp.

Turns out the MOU was basically Iran's Christmas wish list and basically a surrender by the US, so Presidunce Toddler McShitferbrains had to blow it up.

Meanwhile, things are worse because the other strait is now closed to the Saudis and more US troops have died and more US equipment has been blown to shit.

And sending in troops would be another stupid thing, so guess he'll be doing that soon.

"consider he has nothing to lose "

Maybe he does...maybe he wants to keep passing the open windows...

Also- Fuck Kennedy...both of 'em...

One is insane and the other has Bad Faith tattooed on his forehead....

Reading this feature I regularly wonder: is anyone actually watching these things except people paid to do so, like Michael?

(… also do all of their insurance plans cover the therapy?)

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

My ex-hubsand used to watch. I would clean the house.

Rags's avatar

So he didn't hurl on the floor to mess up your cleaning? Tough guy!

So to be an Orange Oaf Orificial does not require that you be able to recite the alphabet in proper order and count to 100.

I was just musing about some laws I would pass once I become Benevolent Dictator of the Universe.

No elected official or cabinet member could buy or sell stocks, bonds, diversified funds, crypto and bitcoin, or tangible assets once they took office. They could also not accept ANY gifts of any kind other than being lent clothing from couture houses to wear to formal events. All their existing investments would have to be locked up tight in a trust find and they could only spend their dividends. I haven't decided yet whether their immediate family members should be subject to the same restrictions.

There would have to be a few exceptions of course, such as the elected official getting divorced and having to divide their assets, but that could be hashed out later.

Also, nobody could campaign for any public office until 60 days before the election, and they could only spend $2 million on their campaign. This amount would increase annually by the same % applied to Social Security COLAs.

Also, every eligible citizen would be required to vote or pay a penalty. A LARGE penalty. Also too, all voting would be by mail or secure dropbox.

It's just a fantasy I have. I enjoy mulling over the details when I am trying to fall asleep.

Throw in a decent pension to (hopefully) reduce corruption

G-7 in Space's avatar

(pssssttt- don't forget "TAX THE CHURCHES"...please...)

Pope Scipio Newburyporticus's avatar

If you do that you have to pay them well as professionals. A congressperson should be able to make a comfortable living doing what they do without having to look for outside income.

wobbly's avatar

Professional what? Schoolteachers? Neurosurgeons? White shoe lawyers?

helenasgarden's avatar

I would vote for you, oh future Benevolent Dictator of the Universe.

Queen Méabh's avatar

Thou shalt sit at my right hand, helenasgarden. I hope you don't like car alarms and loud car stereos, because I want to ban both of those as well, and everyone would have to enroll in a free 9-month-long child rearing class before being allowed to have a baby. I have a very long list.

G-7 in Space's avatar

Can I maintain all your Beach Houses, please??

helenasgarden's avatar

When can you start? 🥰

cmd Human Scum's avatar

I would add no TV political commercials. I don't trust them when they are trying to sell me a hamburger, so definitely don't trust any politician telling me jack shit.

Kid 'n Nipple-Play's avatar

I would allow TV political commercials. However, I would also add a law requiring politicians to be both honest and forthright. Lying, dissembling, or attempting to deceive voters in any way would automatically end their campaign if they are campaigning, and end their term if they have already been elected. As a politician, you could be wrong, but if you actively try to deceive voters, or are willfully ignorant of subject matter you should know (yes, I'm speaking to you, Mike Johnson), you get the boot.

Queen Méabh's avatar

Good idea, thanks.

PrimerGray's avatar

I don't think 60 days is enough time. 6 months might be. And required voting doesn't sit well with me.

Queen Méabh's avatar

I would consider 90 days, but $2 million is probably not enough to pay for 6 months of campaigning.

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

That last bit is compelled speech, which is unconstitutional, but the rest is rock solid.

Queen Méabh's avatar

They wouldn't have to actually fill in the ballot if they didn't want to, because you are right, they can't be compelled to do that. They would just have to register, receive one, and send it back blank if they chose to.

G-7 in Space's avatar

If you're the "Boss" just do what you please and the Hell with "Norms", amirite?

PrimerGray's avatar

<If we can stand the pain of the rising cost of energy, we need to stay the course, at least for a few more months.>

Uh, no, Mr. Multi-millionaire, we cannot stand the pain. People are going to be mighty cold this winter if they heat with oil and it stays where it is price wise. Paying $1.00 more per gallon for both traveling and heating fuel over an extended period of time is a serious setback for the average person. This verkakte war is making the wrong people weatlhier and this is money we are never getting back.

cmd Human Scum's avatar

Not to mention every damned thing has to be transported by trucks that USE FUEL, Dumbass Foghorn.

Cincinnatus's avatar

Consider: Foghorn represents Louisiana. Louisana, I expect, does hot need much heating fuel. The alternative to Gulf Oil is Venezuela oil. Louisiana is one of the primary refiners of Venezuela oil. So if New England can help out Louisiana by freezing to death, Sen Foghorn would be much obliged.

I'm still waiting for Lindsey Graham to resume his regular appearances on the Sunday shows. And I realize he recently died.

I'm surprised the Sunday shows didn't have him on like Max Headroom.

OT: We're getting severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the Chicago area now. Winds in some places are approaching 90 mph. I bring you this news so that I can tell you that the NWS meteorologist reporting these conditions is named Kevin Doom.

Mildred Downey Broxon's avatar

Well, no wonder he went into meteorology.

PrimerGray's avatar

He changed his name to that. He was born Kevin Gloom.

even now, it is not like day at street level

Tetman Callis's avatar

That blackness was a real attention-grabber. Darker than night. It's lightened up a little outside my window now, though rain keeps coming down in fits and starts.
