I simply see things in shades of facts, statistics; right and wrong.

Differing viewpoints is what I hope makes Wonkette not an echo chamber, although I will try to remember the delicate sensibilities of those such as yourself who missed their nap time after morning shuffleboard.

I agree - superiority is pleasure all in itself.

Well, we elected Obama and Biden while you spent your Social Security checks on more Ronald Reagan and John Wayne commemorative plates.

UK late 60's experience as a military surgeon-in-training . Our outreach to reduce waiting times for NHS ( free ) elective surgeries brought united opposition by local civilian surgeons ( who were allowed 15% private biling ) . Now in Canada where government , facing strong public resistance , is nonetheless bringing creeping privatization . Best wishes to you ( US ) guys . If you ever get there ( socialized medical care ) try to include cost controls ( prioritize , triage , tort management ) to counter wildly expensive technology , limited resources , and legal ass-covering behaviours .

Same thing happened when my daughter got sick. The jerk did exactly what state here. Guess who didn't pay him. Then I called his office and told him straight out I wasn't paying him and he could kiss my backside to get payment. He threatened to sue me. I threatened new paper coverage of his tactics and going to the local TV station action line. Never heard from him again and dropped him as my family doc. Then other family members dropped him as well. Word of mouth had impact with friends of my family members.

Or the hospital literally charges different prices for different insurers, and different prices for procedures based on the patient's medical history and risk factors, and oh by the way it's an EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT so if you're concerned about that cost, try going to your PCP for the sniffles instead of an emergency room. Thanks for playing.

Well, it was more of a mental exercise leading up to it, then an explosion of facts and truth, quickly followed by exhaustion and a little shame.

Yeah, we'll see if that five-page 8-point-type "disclosure" that demands I sign and swear to pay whatever ridiculous amount they pull out of their asses that day actually disappears.
