Luckily, I have El Dad also too... he phone-banked at Oldz for both Bamz (both times) and Hillz, and is so excited about me marching that he sent me money to "cover" my expenses (I think he means bail - I'm not planning on getting arrested, but I like how non-judgmental he'd be).
I transcribed a phone message from my Wesley Brian mother from shortly before the election:
"hi this is your mother, and the message is I REEEEALLY hope you're not going to vote for Hillary. She called disabled children effin retards...and I just, (exasperated sigh) I just can't believe some of the things she's done...and said... and (exasperated sigh) I just...cannot believe the things that she has done...(exasperated sigh) it..it (exasperated sigh) it's appalling... that she let the mother of those dead ambassador people think that it was a story, a book, a movie or whatever that caused their deaths when she refused 600 requests for protection... and (exasperated sigh) I know that you and I usually disagree politically but she said that it's (voice dripping with contempt) time for Christians to upgrade their thinking and churches to change their teaching to agree with modern times, so what is this, (contempt in voice increases) a fight with god over the ten commandments? hey god you're wrong, listen to me, I'm Hillary? Wowwwwww. I just...sigh... she scares me... she absolutely frightens me... (exasperated sigh) ... and I hope you won't vote for her... i hope you won't vote for her... Donald Trump on the other hand, is not connected, does not have political promises to pay back for campaign structures and so forth... ahhhhh (exasperated sigh) ...nobody is going to owe him their campaign or he owe anybody his campaign... but i think god put him there to get through this and take care of the business because a businessman is what we need right now regardless of what he says ignore it...we... a businessman to get the United States protected from going down the drain...financially god is trying to protect us...and (sigh)... we need, we need prayers right now, we need Trump right now...and... maybe he's not who we would have picked out of the blue, but he was sent to us for a reason... (sigh) we need him, or we're going under...thanks."
So, Wesley the economist, uses the wrong economic data for his talking points. Why isn't he happily employed at a big time right wing think tank? Surely they wouldn't let a prize like this guy get away.

One of the other routines I pull on some people like that if they're of southern or eastern european ancestry is to start musing about how a little over a century ago, this country passed strict immigration laws to prevent the "wretched scum of the earth" from entering this country. They were said to be illiterate, disease ridden, no skills, criminally inclined, and worshiped an unAmerican religion. I finish with "But somehow, I don't know how, your ancestors got in here. "
