I'm not quite sure what you mean by "public interest justification," but I can say that Christian nationalists want to return to the very clear-cut rules about what men do and what women do (= lots of power for straight cis white men and not so much for anyone else).
The existence of trans people (and nonbinary people, LGBTQIA+ people, child-free women, and anyone else who doesn't fit neatly into one of only two categories) threatens their basic premise: that god/Nature created only two sexes, and that no one is supposed to deviate from their god-determined role.
There always has to be an other for fascism to work. You can't vilify fully half the country, including people's family and friends, without having a nefarious other to justify it.
Has anybody in Texas ever seen Ken Paxton's birth certificate? And verified that his current gender matches what he was assigned at birth? Asking for a friend.
I was pissed enough when Nevada required the use of my middle name (which I hate and never use) on my license. Small potatoes compared to this shit FFS...
A reminder: Red state rghtwing extremists pull this shit because they know their voter-suppressed, gerrymandered electorate will reward it. It's nice (from their point of view) that there is a chance that our corrupt courts will even uphold it, but they'd do it even if it would get thrown out so hard it bounces. Because they're politicians and don't actually care about anything but votes and grift.
Lyndon Johnson said, correctly, that the best way to end racist discrimination was to make sure they could vote. With a fair vote, they can protect themselves.
LGBTQ don't quite have the numbers for that, but they have a lot of allies, and an overwhelming majority of non-weird Americans who just aren't on board with rightwing obsessions and won't reward them.
The best protection for LGBTQ folks is a new VRA. Remove the obstacles for a million of "new" Texas voters and it will turn blue overnight. California flipped Blue because Pete Wilson thought he could catch a ride to the White House by beating up immigrants. Since California never managed any kind of voter suppression, he, and the Republican party, paid PERMANENTLY for that offense.
Undo red state voter suppression and all else will follow.
This kind of moral panic against trans people is a good way to motivate unreconstructed voters to the polls, especially in voter-suppressed unreconstructed states. However, if we can get around their malfeasance we can stop their regimes of terror against vulnerable minorities. It will take a lot of work.
Each one teach one and bring them to the polls. The Republicans especially are doing their best to trash your registrations. Use sites like www.vote.org, www.vote.gov or www.iwillvote.com to check.
And look at Arizona. Look at the difference having Dems in power has made in people's lives and even giving a modicum of protection to trans people.
Now let's punish the Republican cruelty with a defeat they'll never forget!
Even literally ENDANGER the lives of vulnerable kids.
I become mouth-frothing enraged, not only in defense of our own child who has all the support a kid could want, but especially for all those who have none.
I don't know how to express my deep, dangerous feelings about hurting children, but you can guess what they are.
I take enormous relish in "educating" people. I also experience great tension and frustration in my very strong desire to hit them when their attitude badly needs adjustment.
My eyes glaze over at the exhausting hoops and legal maneuvering these fucking busybodies throw up continuously to show how truly fucked up their minds are to normal people.
"when providers thought that their child’s name couldn’t be normal for their child’s recorded sex."
So are they saying that rock star Alice Cooper couldn't get insurance because his name wasn't "normal" for his recorded sex? In this day of globalization, nobody should be deciding what names are normal for any sex. One of my old school friends named Elaine changed her name to Evan many years ago when she came out as a lesbian and wanted to marry her partner Sue, but it wasn't yet legal for her to do that in California, and so she legally changed her name and became Evan + her partner's last name.
It's so weird how obsessed MAGAs are the genitalia.
What is the public interest justification for these rules? Other than, “we think trans people are icky,” I mean.

I doubt his BC identifies him as human.
I'm late to the party here, but...

Ta, Crip Dyke. The more we know ....

This is my motto.

Seth, the teen is about to turn 18. They're getting their first State photo ID, in order to be able to register in a couple of weeks, and then VOTE.
We proudly took that baby with us to every poll location at voting time until the last one or two; like Mommy, like Beloved Child.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwyyyyyeaah!
Let's GOOOOO!
*DANCING*
And TeenX used to go campaigning with Mommy. Still have their wee Obama Baby onesie ❤️
ALSO got her a rainbow-lettered KAMALA t-shirt during the primary!!
She will be receiving more swag, oh yes.
You love to see it!
Sister in TX even sent her a BETO t-shirt, and a sign for our Ohio yard, haha.
People told me they took photos of it!

so, we've entered the "throw everything at trans folk and see what sticks"-stage? great.
literally anything to make other people's lives miserable.
Even literally ENDANGER the lives of vulnerable kids.

the most perverse thing is that these weirdos want to paint themselves as the saviors of children, which makes me even more enraged.
I take enormous relish in "educating" people. I also experience great tension and frustration in my very strong desire to hit them when their attitude badly needs adjustment.
As has been said before - correctly - cruelty *IS* the point.
Kudos to Judge Soto! Kudos to you, CD!
Complete trans genocide is the point. They want to eradicate the very concept of being trans.
Point taken.
Hugs, Crip ..another excellent call out!
You can always count on Your Friendly Neighborhood Crip Dyke to call them out, boldly.
Only to be followed by an entire set of Dirty Lounge Punk hits.
My eyes glaze over at the exhausting hoops and legal maneuvering these fucking busybodies throw up continuously to show how truly fucked up their minds are to normal people.
Transgender people are just people. They're people. That's it.
They're trying to live in a way that brings them peace and comfort. As everyone else is.
They are no threat to anyone at all.
Sadly, this is much too complicated for hateful ppl to comprehend. Probably because they're hateful ppl in the first place.
#birb2024
Thank uu very much.

A thank, my fren
Who raised these fucking people

What Would Sir Matthew Hale Do? I think he'd see if it floats, TBH...but still.
