Busy questions here.

Have you tried adding a tiny amount of chocolate somehow? Whenever I make chocolate ice cream I add like a quarter teaspoon of instant coffee powder and it turns the ice cream from "chocolate" to "CHOCOLATE" and you can't notice the coffee flavor at all. Would the reverse work in a cocktail context? Like a single drop of chocolate bitters or something?

Schmannity's avatar

I shook it for 14 seconds. Should I throw it out and start over?

William Donnell's avatar

No, it's toxic. I'm already suited up, so I can dispose of it for you.

tehbaddr's avatar

There was a local Fern Bar in the 70's when I was growing up. We would hit it and chat up the girls on occasion. It was very low key.

Elviouslyqueer's avatar

I didn't know TGI Friday's did Ramos Gin Fizzes. That's... unfortunate.

OneYieldRegular's avatar

Just the thing to go with deep-fried mozzarella sticks.

Elviouslyqueer's avatar

Are you familiar with the Fruitful line of liqueurs? They make a delightful espresso liqueur that's all natural and delicious in an espresso martini (I've got Mr. Black as well, but Fruitful is a little sweeter so you don't need to add simple syrup).

tehbaddr's avatar

Does it have crema? It better have crema!

Matthew Hooper's avatar

The hard shake with a generous amount of ice re-establishes the crema.

Antifa Commander's avatar

Okay, how does one get fresh, cold espresso? Because if it's fresh, it's going to be hot. If you put it immediately in the fridge, it's still going to be a while before it's cold, so no longer fresh. Please to explain.

Lucius's avatar

You can get metal orbs that you're supposed to keep in the freezer for this kind of thing. They're usually attached to some sort of prongs that hold it in place over your espresso receptacle.

Zyxomma's avatar

If you want to chill it quickly, you probably have a freezer.

Kid 'n Nipple-Play's avatar

What? You don’t have any liquid nitrogen lying around?

tehbaddr's avatar

We used that for quick chilling bevies at the lab Friday afternoons.

Antifa Commander's avatar

Oh, that would be dangerous. "Eek! I shattered my fingers!"

Kid 'n Nipple-Play's avatar

Eh, we almost all start with nine spares.

New from Texas:

Daniela Silva, who ran for the District 3 seat on the Austin City Council in 2022, posted on her Instagram account a video of her wearing the shirt and leaving the stadium claiming she was "kicked out of the Q2 Stadium" for the attire. A post on social media platform Reddit also has a picture of her wearing the shirt inside the stadium talking to an Austin Police Department officer with the caption: "They kicked her out."

Me: “I’m gonna go get teriyaki for lunch”

Mrs C: “Wait! I’m going to make some noodles with tuna and peas for lunch”

Hmm.

I do love Mrs. C, but sometimes she is the waspiest wasp that ever wasped.

Reader, I stayed and had the tuna surprise. She frowned as I poured sriracha on it, though.

Craig Nixon's avatar

Good soy sauce will kick up the tuna surprise.

I use 1:1 Kikkoman and Pearl River Bridge Dark Mushroom Soy...which is DANK.

Bobathonic's avatar

Well, you have to fix that tuna flavor. You had no choice.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

Ya know ... you can use a bottle of red Cholula to keep WASPs at bay. It's like kryptonite.

Politico now reporting that Alito is considering retirement.

OneYieldRegular's avatar

Buh-bye.

But seriously, Justice Hulk Hogan is just NOT a good replacement even if every Republican would confirm him.

Phried Ω's avatar

So it will be a 5 - 3 majority for two and a half years.

Russell Jones's avatar

I suspect he'll hang on for another term, then let Fatberg nominate as his replacement a 35-year-old Federalist Society maniac who'll camp out in that seat for half a century.

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

If they lose the Senate in November, the Dems can block anybody Trump nominates. If Alito's gonna give Trump another pick, it has to be before January.

Mysterysurf's avatar

The precedent has been set unfortunately.

With rewards points I got an audiobook for free, "Trophy" by Julian Jay Savarin. I had the paperback when I was younger. It's an aviation potboiler.

A RAF Wing Commander has a concept for joint NATO "November" squadrons, to be the cutting-edge first-to-fight if the USSR attacks. It's not a terrible idea, but the novel uses the never built Air Superiority Variant of the Panavia Tornado, which supposedly outperforms both the F-14 and F-15. Never happen. If you know anything of the RAF's troubles getting the Tornado F3 Air Defense Variant to work...

It's fun though, and may be the last Cold War Technothriller. It was published just before Operation Desert Storm kicked off.

Heard this story on local NPR this week.

A Librarian Is Offering a Class on Avoiding AI. The Response Is Huge. Want to stop AI from nagging you on your phone? Your local library might help.

"How can you get AI to stop popping up on your smartphone? A lot of smartphone users want an answer to that question. Hannah Cyrus, a librarian in Bangor, Maine, offered a class called “Avoiding AI” to her library’s patrons, teaching them how to disable the constant prompting to use AI in their smartphones. It drew an unprecedented response. She now offers the class with a limit of 30 people and keeps a growing waiting list. When she published an article about it in a library journal, she heard from dozens of other libraries who wanted to offer the class too."
