The weather forecast for the weekend keeps getting a little more intense by increments. I can only think they’re trying to ease us into it. It’s gone up from a predicted 4 to 8 inches of snow to 8 to 12 inches. That’s getting into power outage territory.
I’ve done everything I can think of to get ready. It might be helpful to crank up the heat downstairs enough for the in floor pipes to really get things warm. The boiler doesn’t usually come on because the woodstove keeps the house warm enough, so the thermostat doesn’t get triggered. So I’m gonna shovel today because I slacked off on some of the decks, and it’s easier to shovel to fresh snow than snow on top of snow.

Granted, a two foot plus shut Burlington down one year, but that was during xmas vacation. I still had to shovel the driveway, but older sibs were in town to help. The dark horse in this crowded field is the combined Greenland / Scotland / Denmark team: their volume control is top notch. Some commentators think that the language used (a pidgin mash-up of Kalaallisut, Danish and Scots Gaelic) hurts the combined GSD team's delivery. But those criticisms melt away like the island glacier once the combined team demonstrates it's signature move: a synchronized about face with precision pants drop and presentation of 2,000 full and extremely pale moons.
Time for a rant, I finally stood up to the unit stickler for her poor delivery and timing of feedback. The thing she was criticizing me about is totally valid. But she began with “I keep having this problem with [the people on] night shift” and it was such a rude thing to say that I didn’t understand what she was talking about at first. I hope she and her husband who looks like he could be her relative have a shitty Valentine’s Day.
Because, you see, it’s all about her. That’s what it comes down to.

I worked with one who was so vicious that I learned to deflect all credit to her, and any ideas that I had or suggestions in a staff meeting I simply addressed them to her as a question. My coworkers were kind enough not to roll their eyes at my flagrant obsequiousness because they knew I was trying to survive.
Mrs Ciaobella always wants to out for Valentine’s Day dinner, and I prefer not to, as it’s maybe the worst day to go to a restaurant other than perhaps Mothers’ Day. But I usually humor her. As you wish, Buttercup. :)
