Nurse came by to check my stump and re-bandage it. There was a good bit of drainage—mostly clear—which scared the crap out of me. The nurse took photos and measurements and sent it to my surgeon before applying plenty of absorbent bandages and gauze. Surgeon’s office called back this afternoon, and they weren’t terribly concerned. They want the bandages changed every other day and to keep my appointment on Tuesday. So I escaped my current-greatest fear of being admitted to the hospital again.
Filled out my housing voucher paperwork on my phone. I love how I can edit PDFs natively. I can even sign them! Housing caseworker called about half an hour after I emailed the paperwork and said she would get back to me either today or early Monday about the rent limit. (For those who aren’t aware, here at least the parish housing authority provides a total rent amount that voucher recipients can look for. I’m hoping it’s a decent amount, but who knows?)
The big downer today? My SNAP renewal application is still pending, and I used the last of what was available for a grocery order. Thankfully it’ll be enough stuff to get me through the weekend—including some good bottled water—so my panic can wait.
Aaand my housing caseworker emailed me with the affordability numbers. But the math doesn’t math, so I need to call her Monday morning. Oh joy.

I try to make something each Friday for my clients to eat over the weekend while I'm gone. The other caregivers I work with aren't very confident cooks, sadly. Today I made a pasta salad with farfalle, banana peppers, Kalamata olives, sliced cherry tomatoes, pimento and Caesar dressing. It looks pretty good! I also have leftover Italian chili (sausage, white beans, tomato sauce, onions and garlic) I made last night that turned out fabulous, too. My only problem is that I cook so much at work, the last thing I want to do when I get home is... cook for myself. Especially with Mr. Not Amused still in rehab, I'm just not inspired. Maybe I need a muse?
I recently spent a week with my 3 remaining siblings and our various descendants and I cooked up a storm for the 12 of us for various meals (others prepared alternate meals as well). Got back home where it's just me and I've had very little desire to cook.
Honestly, that even sounds like too much work right now! Sad, huh? I've been mainly relying on pre-made soups and Stouffers roast turkey dinners. Between that and some Chex mix, I'm good.
