So we've got a bit of another scandal involving Trump-endorsed perennial candidate David Flippo here in the Nevada 2nd Congressional District. Apparently in one of his previous campaigns numerous mailers, flyers and advertisements touted the retired Lt. Colonel's Bronze Star With Valor from his service in the United States Air Force.
And while it is true Lt. Colonel Flippo *did* receive a Bronze Star, much like Hegseth it did not have the "with Valor" addendum. Flippo *was* part of an Air Force unit that received an Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, but he did not receive an individual citation.
Flippo's campaign, naturally, is blaming it on a copywriter who "inadvertently" conflated the two. How it happened multiple times without anyone catching it is a mystery, I suppose.
Between this and the *many* other ethics complaints over his residency and his inability to file financial disclosures, as well as the total *lack* of endorsement from the sitting incumbent, CD-2 is potentially in play for the Democratic Party for the first time since the seat was created in 1982.
I am just sick and tired of these people who blame some subordinate.

I'm a little concerned that if we do get our Big Blue Wave like we're hoping that then some of the left flank is going to turn HARD on the Dems elected from more conservative areas for...acting like people elected by said areas sometimes. The main things Dems are running on are affordability and anti-corruption. A lot of the ones from the more conservative areas are likely going to focus down on those and try to ignore the various social issues that are too hot button where they are.
Like, I've seen people attacking Talarico over a line I personally think was smart--he said he'd look at the evidence to see if trans girls really did have a competitive advantage in sports to inform his policies. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about the studies done on trans girls in almost all sports is they DO NOT have said advantage the vast majority of the time. HOWEVER the phrasing lets him have plausible deniability for people who think Dems have "gone too far" on trans rights in a way that might make them more likely to vote for him. He's not going to to vote for any anti-trans bills. But he DOES need to get elected to help stop said bills!
As a Texan it worries me too. I have run across a couple of Texans, who are “I don’t know…I’m not sure Talarico is strong enough on trans rights/medicare for all/data centers/fill in the blank with any issue for me to support”.
Starting in my best southern lady voice”Honey, the other guy is Ken Fucking Paxton, if he wins you can kiss anything trans goodbye/give up on any healthcare other than die fast/and enjoy the data center literally in your yard. Talarico might not be as far left as any of us would like, but the alternative is Ken Fucking Paxton.
