Not a question so much as a recalled memory from seeing the beer photo:
My uncle used to buy Miller High Life in 7 oz bottles and give me and bro 4 or 5 of them over the night when I was 12 or 14 when he took us fishing. "Don't tell your dad!" he'd say, and we never did. Maybe it was because I was a little kid or excited to be hanging out with my uncle or maybe they had a different recipe back then but I remember it had an amazing flavor.
Miller High Life was the official beer of the Flying Beer Pass!
Way back, I had a Sunfish (flat deck small sailboat) and my buddy had a Sunfish (slightly bigger, with space for a cooler)..
When my beer was empty, we'd execute the maneuver twice, once to get rid of my empty and again to get a fresh cold one.
.
This takes no small amount of skill to execute on a sailboat, with that damned boom always trying to get into the act.. you REALLY had to know what the wind was doing.. we did this on a river, and calling the winds "flukey" was optimistic.
It took two passes. because on a small sailboat it is hard to get one hand free, nevermind two..
I had a 16 ft sailboat I bought from the local boy/girl scouts many years ago and sold it when it proved to be too hard to move and store. It sure was fun for a few years though!
Not a question, but Ghost Bar used to be called Dixie Divas - - an, ahem, "adult entertainment establishment" that was shut down in a sting operation called "operation trick-or-treat" 🎃
Love the simplicity of a boilermaker. But going back to the days when we had to go home to use the phone or put a quarter into a pay device, the 80's when I tarbended, a BM was a mug of draw and a shot glass of whiskey literally dropped in the glass. We then chugged the MoFo.
"The contractor that renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has told the Trump administration that errors in its own work and flaws in the repair plan, not vandalism, caused the pool’s new blue liner to peel and break loose, according to government documents reviewed by The New York Times.
Because of “human oversight,” workers in some areas did not spray enough of the primer that made the layers of the liner stick together, Atlantic said in the documents. But the bigger problem, the company said, was that the repair plan laid out in the contract called for the layers of liner to include two chemicals that turned out to be incompatible."
And for something different, here is Brian Eno's "Fullness Of Wind", a variation of Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. In the piece, the players' tempos are decreased, with the rate of decrease being related to the relative pitch of the instruments, so that lower instruments are slowest:
At long last, the time of our sorrowful lament is upon us.
Oh wait -- You say it's called "Happy Hour"? Well, if you insist.
This morning I suppressed the urge to start drinking way too early. I spent a half-hour doomscrolling through memories of the day twenty-five years ago when history began again and our world ended, then I bucked up and moved on.
No boilermakers for me today, though. I'm sticking with rum, Old Monk XXX.
As for boilermakers, the homemade kind I drink is a shot of whiskey in a glass of beer. Not a bad combo. The story I heard was that about a century ago this is how steelworkers would start their day -- stop off at an early-opening bar, knock back a couple boilermakers, then head to the mills. I was never to be a steelworker, thank god, but I find the boilermaker to be an enjoyable drink.
Not a century ago: Tin Lizzie’s was open ALL THE TIME for the Latrobe PA Steel crews. I think they stop serving at 2 am but start again at 4 am. Even now.
Well, I'm waiting for my risk reduction specialist to call me for my intake interview. I get to find out if I get a psychologist, a psychiatrist, or a series of sixteen week.programs to learn how to nutrition, exercise, and meditate my way out of a deep depression. It's all up to the Insurance Gods, bastards that they are.
Wishing you the best. I've been there to the point of delusion and I lucked out, all without drugs. It changed my life and I haven't been clinically depressed for years since then. I really hope you don't get a psychiatrist who depends on drugs and you get a therapist. I hope you get a good fit, the most important thing. :hugs:
The fact that you're at the mercy of insurance gods is gobsmacking and enraging.
Busy questions here.
Can Miller HL double as a simple syrup or maybe too sweet?
You had me at pinball.

I ♥️ New Awlinz 😂
Which is better, a Pacifico or Modelo with a smoky mezcal or a Los Dos Amigos reposado? (For once I have the ingredients.)
Try both, and let us know.
I thought there was a weird version of this where you literally drop the shot glass into the pint glass and then drink it down.
Isn't that a depth charge?
That's the way we did it in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. More so when the steel mills were pumpin' out steel.
This is far more civilized than the boilermakers we used to do. We'd drop the full shot glass into the glass of beer and chug the whole thing.

What's the difference between an alcoholic and a drunk?
Alcoholics go to meetings.
Drunks have a spouse that watches over them in Pentagon meetings.
Bingo!
Johann Pachelbel was born on this day in 1653. Here is his Chaconne in F minor performed by Vadim Chaimovich on the piano:

In moderation, of course.

>>Snooty beers are worthy of scorn if you’re pairing them with a shot.
One thing I never worried about before today is if the beer I like is too snooty.
I like Stella Artois. I brought some to an event and one person said he wouldn't drink "that French slop." I let it go, more for me.
Get some Miller High Life in this fuckin' joint!

Is that the one that is "The King of Beers"? 🤪
high life is “the champagne of bottled beers” or so they say in milwaukee
That’s Budweiser.
Bud is the king. Miller is the tyrant of beers.
More like the whiny little brother
Natty Daddy is the tyrant of beers.
Natty Light is like sex in a canoe: it's fucking close to water.
