I would LOVE to embrace Susan is she became a Dem.

She and this turd could take turns being The Most Important Senator.

Weird. I’m not a stoner but know a lot of stoners who talk like that.

Yes, they invoke him as the bogeyman, and have been as far back as I can remember.

Manchin is just another dipshit Republican hiding out in the Democratic Party

And even that is too much to give.

What part of Amy Coney Barret taking a gigantic shit all over DC statehood should it even pass don't you guys get? If our capitol was meant to be in a state, it would still be in Philly. It was never meant to be a state, this is just a naked power grab, admit it.

Adding two more Democratic senators doesn't necessarily weaken Manchin's influence, because Republicans are as likely to gain a couple senate seats at some point as Democrats are. So long as the party breakdown is close, Manchin holds a lot of power.

My guess is he either personally doesn't like the idea of DC being another state, or he sees this as an area he can establish more "independent" cred for his campaigns back home. It sucks, but unless Democrats can pick up some additional Senate seats (and still hold the House) in 2022, this is the limit of what we can do. We simply should not be in a situation where everything depends on the support of a guy who represents one of the reddest states in the country.

"Oh well there's nothing we can do. Ho-hum. Manchin is king. Oh shit how did we lose everything in 2022?!"

Maybe one feckless prick from West Virginia shouldn't get to dictate all legislation.

Letting Manchin drive the boat is going run things into a massive electoral iceberg in 2022.

There has just got to be something we can do to convince Manchin and Sinema on this filibuster issue.

This supposition assumes that Manchin and Sinema are accidentally ignorant of the damage of their position and not doing it intentionally.

Anyone who doesn't understand that the Democratic party is center-right in 2021 is remaining willfully ignorant. If you transposed any long-serving establishment Democrat from US politics to the politics of any European country they would be in the conservative party.

This. Republicans do not care about bipartisanship. This has been aptly demonstrated in every negotiation they've undertaken.

And start moving that arm now! I felt like Mike Tyson gave me an Attaboy punch in the shoulder for three days after my second shot.

Yes, the national Democratic Party DID support AO-C in 2020, but then she was the incumbent at that point and as they had had their asses handed to them in 2018 by her they weren't about to oppose a rising star in the party. And partly because of her and some others they are slowly turining more to the left somehwat now - in certain areas of the country that had been more left-leaning before, but to say that the national party has been for the last two decades is really crazy talk.

But back in 2018, "Ocasio-Cortez was endorsed by progressive and civil rights organizations such as MoveOn and Democracy for America.Governor Cuomo endorsed Crowley, as did both of New York's U.S. Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, multiple U.S. Representatives, various local elected officials and trade unions, and groups such as the Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood, the Working Families Party, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, among others." And just recently, it was revealed how much Pelosi is not the big liberal she's alleged to be..."...The House speaker once scoffed that a “glass of water” could have won congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s seat; she condescendingly described the Green New Deal as the “green dream, or whatever they call it”; she dismissed the ever-growing Squad as “like, five people”. Now some imaginative new insults have come out. Pelosi once mocked the Squad’s “purity politics” using a baby voice.."

"Nancy Pelosi’s disdain for the Squad is not a good look for a leader"

I'm not going to waste any more time, since I have better things to do today (and I've been interrupted twice while just trying to write what I did), and of course you won't do as suggested and check my old comments.
