Lately, a few US freethinkers have been rediscovering this, advocating for intersectionality. Being a proper humanist/social justice warrior is about being pro-equal opportunity for all classes like women, PoC, LGBT+, etc. not just because it's the right think to fight for, but also because discrimination against women, PoC, LGBT+, etc. are linked in many ways.

Or to put it in Cliff notes it's the old wisdom of hanging together to avoid being hanged separately...

Republicans. So they replaced the legendary Thurgood Marshall with a black man - Clarence Thomas - and dared Dems to vote him down. So now they are promising to replace RBG with a woman. Curses! Yay, I guess. But then you realize, well, Michele Bachmann is a woman, for example. So go from there on expectations of who we will get. From a few ponies I read, she should have retired in 2008, at the start of the Obama years.Which is nonsensical on so many levels...

And yes, you pointed, by 2016, it was too late. And I just realized. Retiring on a election year, saying "Bye! I'm retiring now, I'm planning for a total disaster for my democratic friends this coming election".Yeah. Really something to do.

Hillary lost because she was a uniquely horrible candidate. Untold millions of Americans were repulsed by her. All Susan Sarandon did was point that out. Anyone who's still blaming her (or Bernie) is a coward and a fool.
