Wow, she's lucky she didn't die, like my former co-worker. It was very sad. She left behind an 8 year old son. And yet these forced-birthers will tell us all that the fertilized egg takes priority over women and their existing children.

Yet, Republican Christain (misspelling intentional) males are absolutely convinced that if a woman dies during pregnancy/childbirth, a newer model of incubator can be had for 30 shekels and a goat.

That may stop selective abortions, but spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) will still happen and those “incubators” will be destroyed as faulty.

Utah passed a similar law in 2021, though it's not clear how it has worked out. It's likely that not much has changed, seeing as how those who can't afford the costs associated with pregnancy on their own can rarely afford to hire a lawyer to sue for that money. Is there no progressive-minded organization doing pro bono in Utah that I can send my money to? Sure would rather spend it on that than more colorful election-time postcards even from people I'm planning to vote for.

Pregnancy and birth is the most dangerous thing the average Western woman will ever do in her life - and it's even more dangerous for the fetus. Miscarriage, stillbirth, and death of the mother have quite literally altered the course of nations.

Why is "the wicked stepmother" such a trope in folklore? Because pregnancy related problems killed so many women, that there were a lot of stepmothers. And some of them did shitty things to try and advantage their
