“Sure! A lot of you spent a lot of time this past election telling people who didn’t want to vote for Kamala Harris because she said she wouldn’t stop sending weapons to Israel that they needed to think of how badly Trump would treat trans people if elected — but that was in the past.”

Is this even English?

I’m ashamed for you.

The main problem with Democrats is that they don't know how to be hypocritical assholes. If we actually taught that in schools instead of the boring civics stuff, we couldd groom new generations able to win elections. There might be a downside to that but nothing that Fox News couldn't fix.

Democrats have been "Republican Lite" for over 30 years. They put all of their efforts into trying to woo "moderate" Republicans (who don't actually exist). On top of that, they refuse to fight back against Republican attacks to show "decorum" or something. It also would be a good idea to spend less time taking the bait for Republican culture war shit and and hammer them for their failures while pushing OUR goals more for things like workers' rights, environmental protections, fair pay, fair taxes, affordable healthcare, quality education, etc. Until Democrats start acting like Democrats again, they're going to keep losing.

"The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat" -- Harry S. Truman

The problem is that decent, educated people think that most people are like them, they are not! The UK made the mistake when the aforementioned believed that only idiots would vote for Brexit (another word for clusterfuck). The idiots voted, and there's a lot of them and not only are they idiots they're bigots too. These bigiots make a lot of noise and they like other bigiots that make a lot of noise (Trump, Musk, RFK, MTG etc.).

This noise frightens the good people so they make noise too but it's the wrong noise. The undecided are not necessarily bigiots or otherwise but they respond to the noises they hear. The noise of the bigiots is in easy simple terms with monosyllabic buzz words, it resonates. The noise of the decent and educated features terminology that is everyday to them but alien to the undecided so they dismiss it. It's not unreasonable to say that the Democrats are the party of the liberal elite but they have to stop sounding like they are. With that in mind they have to simplify the message and (I hate to say this and I apologise) they need a male candidate.

"In fact, only 10, plus Bernie Sanders, voted against it — Cory Booker, Tammy Baldwin, Ed Markey, Elizabeth Warren, Jeff Merkley, Peter Welch, Andy Kim, Debbie Stabenow, Adam Schiff, and Ron Wyden."

Wyden and Merkley. 20% of the good Dems are from Oregon.

You're talking about winning an argument in a confidence game. It's sales; it's getting people to buy what you're selling. Every election comes down to a choice between Coke and Pepsi. Only half the eligible voters can stomach cola, but we all remain thirsty

A frequent troll at 'Outside the Beltway', whom as usual some commenters can't resist feeding no matter how often they're told it just encourages more giggles and trolling, was challenged a day or two ago to explain where he gets his news.

He nominated 'Just the News' as the best source of factual information on the internet. You know, the site Giuliani's buddy John Solomon set up after his lies and gaslighting got too rich even for 'The Hill'.

MAGAts have created such an extensive, elaborate propaganda network that even Americans without a reactionary agenda must have trouble sometimes knowing whether they're reading more or less genuine information or a pack of MAGA creative fiction. And that, unfortunately, extends to many left-leaning people. I frequently chastise them for making comments that question a small MAGA lie without realising they've accepted a much bigger lie that framed the overall discussion.

Robyn appears to have neglected to cite one overarching and important maxim here: "If you see a spinning fan, be sure to stick your dick in it."

I've worked several places where very well respected and well liked longtime members of the organization – decades past the usual retirement age – were given an office and a phone, and all the newspaper and journal subscriptions they liked.

They'd come in each day to read and to talk with people who'd stop by. An admin person brought them coffee and managed appointments for them to be interviewed or to give advice to those seeking it.

Surely we could set up something like this for the Congress, especially the Senate. It would give someone like Dianne Feinstein or Chuck Grassley a glide path out of active service that would be nicer and more constructive for everyone.

Also less corrupt than the lobbyist revolving door.
