I had a friend who spent a bit of time as a Teamster steward. I don't know exactly how deserved the reputation was, but he did say just having the reputation made it a lot easier to get things done.
Indeed. Bill Clinton's administration is legitimately on record as the most economically successful presidency EVER. Know what he did? He taxed the rich.
So they couldn't get it together in 7 years? It sounds so... I dunno, Republican! That's pretty messed up with the Judge's. But, medical issues can happen unexpectedly!"Trump fucked up the census" gee, isn't that just like him?? If I had to pick anybody to fuck up the census (or fuck up anything, really), it would be Trump! His day is coming sooner than he thinks.
That's the old "we have a great work ethic here" routine. The rep we got when the coal miner's wives and kids had to go work in the factories and mills to survive, since the wages the immigrants got from the mines wasn't enough.
Because federal law, specifically the National Labor Relations Act requires a union to represent all workers covered by a collective bargaining agreement even workers who are not union members and do not contribute to the union in any way.
Well that seems daft - if you're going to make a law forcing the union to represent everyone whether they are a member or not, then the same law ought to allow the union to require everyone to pay for it. Here in the UK it works the other way around - you can't be forced to join the union, but the union doesn't have to represent you if you don't. (The law also protects employees from being penalised for joining a union or engaging in recruiting or representing staff or any other trade union activities.)
I'm not an AMA member but they are slowly coming around to single payer advocacy such that more conservative doctors formed their own "union," with blackjack and....
Because those "leaders" only want themselves to be rich. I mean, if everybody's rich, who would there be to look down upon? I mean. besides those folks they won't allow to join the country club for... reasons.

Amy Schumer's rule of thumb was to never date anyone whose phone font size was bigger than hers.

You could achieve great things simply by doing the exact opposite of anything Rand Paul is in favor of.
To the Everyman, there’s nothing quite as convincing of the sincerity of your campaign to be his champion, as having a multi-millionaire pay for it.
On-USAian here: I don't quite understand why a union would be obliged to defend or provide support to an employee who was not a member?

Great article, Robyn!

Actually, that's Lorraine Newman, who thankfully is still alive and kicking arse.
But I agree about Gilda Radner and Gene Wilder. They were both awesome.
How can you not love big Gretch
