Hi everyone, I'm new commenting/posting on here, so please be kind and bear with me. Ok, I live in Wisconsippi, and it has been so depressing living amongst a bunch of redneck sHitler fans who would enjoy watching the entire world burn so they can 'own the libs'. We have very few businesses that feel comfortable being vocal in support of the progressive movement, but the ones we have are AWESOME, and one in particular, Minocqua Brewing Company (MBC) has been putting up with YEARS of abuse from the repubs in our beautiful northwoods of Oneida County (Oneida is just ONE of the many regressive counties in the state, unfortunately).

So, I don't know how to include the latest email update Kirk Bangstad (MBC owner) sent on his fight to keep his business open (the reps are so petty and bothered by him that they are trying to close his doors for some silly and selective code enforcement), but, can I ask that Wonkette readers (all of you cool and smart peops!) please take a minute and at least sign the MoveOn.Org petition prior to the code violation meeting that the county has rushed to put on the schedule for this coming Wed (26th).

The link is... https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/end-minocqua-s-war-on-beer?mc_cid=241024db0f&mc_eid=77d65e8e33

There should be a lot of info on the MBC facebook page (I am not on fb anymore, that place is a hell hole, imho) of the timeline of events, and everything that the county has done to he and his business in the last 3+ years. He is assuming that the recent huge attack is because he has retained (through a Super PAC which is doing some great things, btw) some high power attorneys from out of state that will bring a lawsuit to legally overturn the private voucher system in WI that is seriously bleeding our public schools dry. We will FINALLY have a progressive WI Supreme Court advantage in August when Jill Karofsky (YAY!!) is sworn in, so it is time to get some good stuff done!

Please, go to his MBC page, check out his stuff, his beers are AMAZING, and all of the work he's doing has been so inspiring, and SO needed! He's sweary, he gives zero fucks, and honestly, we need more people like him.

If this is not the right place to post this, I apologize, and I'll get the hang of this, I promise!

Peace out from lovely Oshvegas~

I think that's very typical!

Why did you have to close the poll before I got to enter my Pat Benatar opinion?

So Cruz's position is that we shouldn't prosecute Trump because, if Biden was found to be in a legal situation, Ted Cruz doesn't think the Democrats would convict him? That is some high level Republican "logic" for ya.

Every accusation is a confession…

Not the murder part, but the not voting part - because yeah, *twice* the R’s wouldn’t.

Democrats: Maybe we should look into all these obvious crimes

Republicans: WHAR CIVILITY

Also Republicans: Let’s face it, we all know that Joe Biden murders children while his son has sex with hookers and Hillary feasts on their vital fluids, I’M JUST SAYING WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT

You're forgiven! We still love yew!

I got to thinking about Cruz’ comments again and I realized this is yet another example of GQP projection. That’s the way Republicon senators treated Drump. There’s NO indication Dem’s are the same. In recent years they have done an excellent job of policing their own ranks. Some would say too good as in the Franken case but it just proves my point.

Condemning "libs" for how they *imagine* we would react to a hypothetical situation, when a) the situation would never come up, and b) they have no comprehension of how we actually react to things, have become a common style of tweet/post

It's just a good exercise in how devious people can produce a sinister meaning out of thin air--in an authoritative way-- so dimwits think it's something everybody else has "known all along."

I work up crazy early for a Sunday on this, my last official week of summer break.

God I want to retire.

I am retired. I woke up crazy early today.

Still crazy after all these years.

I finally got a good night's sleep (thanks meds! And having money and food in my fridge for the first time in a week!) but I woke up early this morning too. I think it's something to do with Summer.

"Political prophesy is optional folly, but: There are not enough Republicans, in Iowa or the nation, enamored of the snarling contest between Trump and DeSantis — their competition to see who can despise the most American defects — to nominate either of them,” [George] Will concluded. “Which is grim news for President Biden.”

Now you know.

Couldn't he end all his columns that way? I mean, "grim news for Pres. Biden." Anyway-- how on earth can that be grim news for Biden? And what does "brittle" mean in this context? Nothing I'm afraid except to demostrate something about George's dainty mind.

And George Will has *never* been wrong about anything.

I'd love to see the GOP convention deadlocked, for ballot after ballot, until it degenerates to fistfights on the floor, then a gunfight, and dissolves in confusion without nominating anyone.

Then a gunfight. One decade John Chancellor is arrested. Next decade: gunfight!

So there’s a one hundred percent chance Trump is the nominee and George goes back to only caring about baseball for another four years

Rafael would be the greatest doofus in American politics if not for so many other doofi who are ahead of him in dooficude.

Expand full comment

Fascinating! I note that "doofi" is a proper plural for "doofus". "Dooicude" was meant to be "doofitude" but both are totally made up, yet cromulent.

Cruz also yucked it up with Comer about Biden for being wealthy enough to buy a collector's item Chevy Corvette.

The car was a wedding present to Joe from his Chevy dealership owner dad, 57 years ago.

Joe also seems to have taken immaculate care of the car.
