If there's anything I don't wanna hear, it's how Polis was just doing what he had to do to protect his state. You cowardly motherfucker, you think your state is the ONLY one being threatened by Trump? Fuck you sideways. I wish California ONLY had to deal with Colorado's water and wildfire problems. It's small-fry, BS bullshit compared to the level of these threats we face. Call me when you start losing densely populated parts of Denver, asshole.

But yes, let's have every snivelling little blue-state simp-in-chief just individually surrender to Trump in return for a handful of promises, that will surely solve all our problems.

If Peters were Black and kicked a cop she would be in the morgue, not prison.

Looking at polls, it seems that the 2026 midterms will rightfully be a blowout for Dems. That's when the real fun starts. I expect the Trump DOJ to leap into action claiming SUPER MASSIVE FRAUD and make every move they can to negate the results

Money? Threats?

We will have to pay her billions in reparations if Jan 6 is any indicator.

So, according to Mother Jones, old people just can't be prosecuted for crimes? Because they'll die in jail? After doing a crime?

The Democrats are just as corrupt as the Republicans, although in different ways. Polis letting Peters off the hook is my reminder to stop donating money to ANY politician and stop voting, too. Trump is doing his best to destroy our country; having a Democratic governor help him tells me the end is near.

So your solution to political corruption is "give up?" Muy bueno, caballero. Francisco Franco and Viktor Orban like your style.

Roger Loeb's avatar

I'm not giving up. I abandoning the people who don't deserve my support.

Lynn Veit's avatar

Abandon those who don't deserve your support, yes, even when that involves a Democratic Governor.

But what about the rest of us? We need you to help us fight. Roger, please don't give up yet. That is what they want us to do -- despair, give up, stay home in November. Please stay with us.

WokeGrandma's avatar

If you're not voting, then you're abandoning all candidates, not just the ones who "don't deserve" your support. I'd call that "giving up."

Roger Loeb's avatar

As of today there are NO candidates that deserve my support. If one should surface, I'll vote for them.

I don’t want to defend Polis, but I sort of need to because I lived in Colorado until just recently.

The one thing to remember about Colorado is that it’s coming out of one of its driest winters in history, and the world is getting warmer. If he did one selfless thing in office, this just might be it. He trades a non-violent old lady for assurances that he will have water and fire assistance for the upcoming summer, which will probable be record breaking across the west. He’s already served in Congress before becoming Governor. He’s an attorney. He will never be poor. He was never poor. He’s still raking in the royalties on his mother’s poetry (Susan Polis Schutz). So I think he’s actually attempting to keep Colorado safe. And yes, it’s shitty deal to sell your soul and give Trump ANY kind of win. But I can see why he’s doing it.

You may be correct, but, what is to stop the orange from just cutting off the funding again because he hates Michael Bennett? Bennett is running a brutal (all correct) ad right now that scorches Trump and anyone who bows to him.

Nothing stops Trump from doing what he pleases at any time. Polis is willing to sell his soul for the home he loves. So is Michael Bennet. We all express our love in individual ways, no? So they’re both doing what they feel is right for Colorado. Neither of them will wind up in poverty for it because we have a pay-to-play political system. My heart gets more progressive every day. I’m tired of establishment politics.

OK, I can see him doing this if he would also tell the truth - that Trump was blackmailing the people of Colorado and this was the cost of stopping him. The idea that this was some sort of principled decision is an insult to everyone who lives in Colorado.

The astounding thing is that he did a mostly good job as Governor. Not outstanding, but pretty solid. Then last year he proposed some weirdass walkway plonked in the middle of Civic Center Park (which was NOT popular with anyone else), and now this. Like...is this some sort of neurological issue?

We were so hopeful and excited when he was elected! And now...we're so disappointed and heart-broken.

Like, the weirdest part is that he's mostly done a pretty solid job! WTF has been going on with him over the past year? remember the stupid Civic Center pedestrian bridge he wanted?

"... unlocking doors to her office building where the machines were kept, turning off nearby security cameras, and buying all her co-conspirators burner phones so they could communicate without leaving a trail."

This is black-bag Plumber shit. She got the sentence she deserved and I hope Polis gets the reception he deserves for commuting it.

Absolutely. His political career should be over and the DNC should stop supporting him at all.

Hey. Avocados have great moral clarity. JD couldn’t aspire to such taste. He’s not even a moldy potato of a thousand eyes forgotten at the bottom of the cupboard in the spooky Evil Dead cottage.
