My Dad was in the ILGWU for years as a janitor in a pants factory that made Sergio Valente jeans. I'm not sure what union the silk mill workers had. My mother had been in the Machinists union for years, when she worked in a lampshade factory. We loved the way her union sounded more macho than Pop's did. For a while he was in the Teamsters while working in a warehouse. Loved getting that Teamsters magazine during the Jimmy Hoffa years.
He's on another blog, Lawyers, Guns and Money (yes they omitted a comma which doesn't sweeten my opinion). Over there he was scorching against her and has a massive spite boner against Newsome to the point his own readers say he's trolling
John Lewis and Big Bill Hutchinson are two continuing inspirations and motivations to to organize! I remember beaming with all-consuming pride the day I joined the WSNA and paid my union dues. It was damned gratifying to both work the floor in a clinical capacity and then working together to achieve wage and benefit goals via union meetings. Core nursing staff tend to bond very strongly secondary to the stressful demands of their jobs and those bonds were further reinforced via negotiations with hospital administration as well as on the picket line.
Ponies are messy, smelly, and expensive to feed. Union dues are a far better monthly expenditure.
The problem in the present is Deindustrialization! All those jobs lost to automation have moved to the service sector. We need more service sector unions. We can see it happening in places such as Amazon and Starbucks, but there needs to be a whole lot more of it. One area one would have expected to have seen this is in the video gaming industry. From what I've read that's a pretty terrible work environment.
The service sector needs to take its cues from the Hollywood and sports unions. They are pretty powerful examples of what we can achieve if we work together, and you don't need to be working in a steel mill for it to be of benefit to your wages and workplace.
I’m going to guess you’ve been bitten as well? I had one that used to get me in the back if I forgot for even one second and turned my back to him. He also had the delightful habit of corkscrew kicking when he was turned out.
My sister's shetland pony would belly crawl.under the fence to go help herself to the neighbor's grain bin, or to try to open the patio door to let herself into the house. Ponys are a lot like naughty children.
Put a wig and some eyebrows on Jonah Hill, and you've got a biopic.
The representative from the Ladies' Garment Workers' Union was named David?
K.

Oh look the dude who did a hatchet job on Feinstein while her body was still warm, along with some of the nastiest articles from the left.

Rep Ken Buck (R-CO) warns that Rep Jim Jordan has more than just the 22 GOP defectors. Buck says it could 30 to 40 now
So Dim Jordumb is a malcontent masochist?
Who knew? [dramatic shoulder shrug] Tsk!
I'm sure Gym has earned quite a bit of sadism credit also too.

He's going to jail now, right? RIGHT?!
Sigh, so after some reading the AG wasn't part of the gag order, so "technically" he didn't violate it. This motherfucking piece of shit.
I'm so tired of this motherfucker.
Forget that for a moment. Who won the pool? My bet was Toilet Time on Tuesday morning, so I'm out.
Seems to me that it's about damned time to issue Drumpfenfuehrer a matched set of silver bracelets.
Testing...
Wonk legal folk, can the prosecutor give PAB a turban wedgie in the court room? If not, what about the judge?
would he notice?
OT, sorry: Marjorie Taylor Greene GOES OFF About GOP Disfunction: ‘This Conference is Absolutely Broken!’
You built that.
She also said that too many Reps need to keep their ego's in check. Self awareness level -300
Thanks Erik! I love labor history and always learn a lot from your posts.
80% of ponies are assholes. And I’m being generous.
I wish I could ask my late brother Steve whether the Shetland pony belonging to the base commander my father worked kicked him or just bit him.
Shetlands are nasty, ill tempered equine bastards.

The other 20% are animatronics in a Disney park
I've only known one pony, and can confirm.
Birbe like he.
OT LoL: the late Silvio Berlusconi left his heirs a massive collection of shlock art, mostly purchased from late-night TV shopping (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/19/silvio-berlusconi-heirs-weigh-up-fate-of-his-mostly-worthless-art-collection). He had too much money, too much time on his hands, too little taste.

Very interesting, Erik, as always!
That Lewis guy in the pic is the most owl-looking person that I've seen a pic of in a long time.
John L Lewis was a big hero around here. Not due to this punch though.
What about Callista?

Why do they all go for that crazy eyes look? How is it produced?
This shot makes me think of a Clockwork Orange but with force fields holding the lids open.
AIGGGGH! MY EYES!!!
My very first thought, too.
Did they have a name for that...hairstyle... he so courageously rocks?
It was another, simpler time.
His hair looks like the top of a mantel clock.
Yup. The round head, and those eyebrows!
Toss a mouse in front of him and see what happens...
