Good Christ, that poor man.

Hey, Wonkette, hi, haven't commented here in a while but I had to post something about this. This is my neighborhood. I visit the store Floyd was murdered in front of at least once a week. I've been listening to the demonstrations all day, right from where I'm sitting typing this now.

I paid a visit of course. Shit was nuts. The whole sidewalk is one big memorial, the street's blocked off, people were everywhere - some to pay respects, some apparently just to act out in public. Saw a fight break out, and was almost caught in a stampede when somebody thought they saw somebody else pull a gun. People are grieving, pissed, scared, worried... I'd say it's a powder keg but it's already gone off. The explosion's happening now, we're all watching it happen (those of us who aren't already in the middle of it), but nobody knows when or how it's gonna end, how many more people are going to get caught in the blast.

And now of course there's reports that militia assholes have been making plans to gather and.. who knows what. Just push us all that much closer to the civil war they're dreaming of, I guess.

This cop belongs in jail. There is no defense for his actions. You don't put your knee on someone's neck unless you intend to kill them. There's no way he didn't know what he was doing.

Honestly, I believe it's worse than that. Not only do I think Derek Chauvin knew what he was doing, that he knew George Floyd might die... I think he knew what the fallout would likely be, and he welcomed it. I think he wanted a war, too.

I hear he's barricaded in his house now, hiding out from protesters, and that does cheer me up a little.

This entire precinct, if not the whole department, needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. None of us are safe if any asshole with a badge thinks he can pull this shit with impunity... murder a man in cold blood and let the city - not his city, he's just some prick from the suburbs - suffer the consequences.

Please be safe. I'm sitting here watching the fires on Unicorn Riot's live feed, listening to emergency scanners, and worrying.

I've never heard of this mayor until right now. My impression after watching this clip is that this country sorely needs 100,000 more just like him. I hope I'm right in thinking he won't let this drop. That he'll do everything in his power to see that some justice can be had.

American police were literally formed from slave patrols.* They're still staying true to their roots is all. /snark

Minneapolis has such wonderful diversity in city government and in the community. Why are the cops there so fucked up?

Thank you for providing the view from where you are. And the picture of the storefront. Those of us who live far away are devastated and I can’t imagine how it is to be right where the traumatic events are happening. In the place that is your home.

He’s a young man who is aging quickly right before our eyes. He is shouldering so much grief and pain within the community he is tasked with leading and serving.

They seem to be a breed apart everywhere.

These people can use their voices, at least the white people in the crowd might not get shot, for voicing their opinions that killing a subdued black person is not okay.

Obviously I'm not advocating for more violence, which you might have gotten a clue from the fact that needless killing and suffering upset me so badly.

And you are so peaceful, kind and loving yourself. You seem like a very angry and hostile gentleman. Perhaps if just one white person were to blow a rape whistle, scream, call 911 or any fucking thing, the fact might gain some attention that police everywhere are racist murderers.

If you have any better answers please be my guest to say something new, something helpful. Maybe browbeating someone who is in pain over the death of some black mother's child, brother, nephew, fiancee, etc, has had their life taken, stolen isn't the best way to enact change.

Too long have all Americans remained calm, whispered, took photos... at some point someone gotta do something. I never said bum rush the cops with guns blazing, but damn diplomacy, reminding persons involved they are over the line, calling for more police, honking a carhorn from a safe distance.

I certainly don't want your ass in a crowd around me or anyone I know if we were in a simular situation. Guess you want people to grab some popcorn and pull up chairs if God forbid you or someone you loved were in a situation where someone is killing you while you beg for mercy.

I was the first white person to be bused to an all black school in 1964, I've been there, done that and got the t-shirt. And yes it went as can be expected.

I don't blame those kids. I got beat at school and beaten when I got home for, "talking like a damn n#####." Racist asshole family, and I did rebel, I spoke up and I got hurt for it. What have you done for the lives and rights of our black brothers and sisters?

More witnesses by calling more police. Are we to believe that every single cop is corrupt, racist, and will murder innocent people? If the law is that corrupt then it's time for change. No one is free.

Try to understand how helpless, frustrated, angry and scared innocent people of colour are. I don't have the IQ most of you have here but I have unconditional love for all people regardless of race, creed, colour, or position.

I've been on the receiving end of police brutality, and I'm white, but I was poor. Somebody with more brain power than me has got to come up with something, cause when I open my mouth I get bashed for it. Go figure, show passion for life and you get hated. Maybe Trump is the President for America...
