Jim Effing Himes. We're District DeLauro, but this still stung. Heard him justifying it on TV and for the first time Himes sound self-righteous and smarmy--like a Republican.

I think he'll regret this vote. Give him another chance. Not a gazillion other chances, but at least one.

Democrats just don’t get the point. Civil resistance is the thing to do. A group of us used it to get the head of a government agency that I worked for fired. We intentionally did things to anger him and throw him and his supporters off balance.

If I had been a congressman sitting in the room during Trump’s speech, I would have planned some disruptive behaviors with my friends. When Al Green spoke, we would have stood up and applauded him. When he was escorted out of the room, I and some of my friends would have joined him, chatting in a friendly way with the sergeants at arms and saying things like, “Must be hard on you guys having to do this!”

Then after a bit, we all would have returned with cups of coffee and taken our seats. Then we would have smiled and gestured to each other while enjoying our coffee. After awhile, small groups of Democrats would have gotten up from the middle of their row, forcing everyone else to stand up, and then left the room to go to the bathroom, returning one by one with cups of coffee and smiling and nodding to each other.

At some point, Trump or a hothead like MTG would have erupted and started screaming about disrespect. At which point, we would smile, point to our coffee, and through gestures, ask if they wanted us to get some. If I, being the obvious ringleader, was called to account for my behavior, I would have initially feigned misunderstanding, because those sorts of people desperately want to think those who oppose them are stupid.

If pressed, I would smile and say, “Coffee keeps me awake so I can enjoy the president’s speech!” I would hold up my cup and others would do also to show how much we all wanted to stay awake. If MTG berated me, I would smile and say, “Somebody’s grumpy without her coffee. Want me to get you one?”

If I was told I couldn’t have coffee on the floor of the House, I would publicly apologize and walk outside to drop off my cup, finishing it on the way. Others would follow me one by one or in small groups to do the same. If the sergeants at arms were directed to collect up the coffee cups, I would make a point of helping them, smiling all the time.

Then when things got settled down again, I would step out to go to the bathroom, coming back in with a newspaper or something else. Then others would go. The whole demonstration would distract people from Trump’s speech.

Two other things: I would not admit to what I was actually doing if confronted by the media, and would smile pleasantly, saying things like, “Kind of a long rambling speech and I wanted to stay awake.” And, “When a guy’s gotta go, he’s gotta go.” If Trump insulted me, I would have said something like, “He needs more sleep,” or “Old guys like him can get grumpy.”

Worked for us, the agency head made mistake after mistake until his board fired him. Angry, he led a protest by his friends at the next board meeting to get him fired. They had a consolation job for him in another agency, but withdrew it after that. Had never worked a day again in his life.

Nonviolent resistance works.

Was I in the Army with you?

You are just the sort of sneaky son of a bitch I used to run with.

Sorry, his protest was to get him un-fired. Now it makes sense. We honestly need to educate Hakeem Jeffries or choose a different minority leader.

The Cons would absolutely not tolerate a break from the party line. THAT'S WHY THEY WIN. At least one way. I'm REALLY disappointed with Moskowitz, since he does such a good job of dressing down the rethugs on the tee vee. But I'm done with him now. Primary all the fukkers.

Jared Moskowitz. JARED FUCKING MOSKOWITZ! That's a name I definitely did NOT expect to see on that list. Is it because he's from Florida? I just don't get it.

Democrats seem intent on breaking our hearts... bit by bit. So many of them are just not that "Democrat". Just pro-choice dudes with a cush job. Or something.

I just don't get it. If a bunch of us here in the WonkeWorld were elected Democrats, I think we'd not only be organizing and fighting like hell but we'd be making a lot of noise doing it.

Hey Dems ~

If we don’t win elections then NOTHING changes.

If you can’t ant walk AND chew gum…

Rep Al Green’s focus was “Trump has “no mandate” to loot Medicaid”

that message is what the American people need to hear about from

ALL OF YOU!

Publicly speaking about primary challenges for these 10 Reps and NOT

Trump is planning to loot Medicare,

Is shooting yourself in the foot.

Priorities People!!

The American people want a gov that works for them!!

None, or you are doing exactly what trump threatens to do when a Republican looks like he is thinking independently. Those Democrats must realize that they can respect the office but it isn’t the office that is destroying our government as we knew it but a vindictive, incompetent, corrupt classic narcissist who must be held accountable no matter what it takes. And if rudeness gets his attention then so be it.

Since I'm not a constituent I can't leave Jared Moskowitz a message on House.gov. So, I tootled on over to his FB page and blasted him there. I wasn't alone. Mistakenly, because I'd seen him go at it with Empty Greene, I thought he was one of the good ones. I was wrong.

Lifelong Dem here, who's so disgusted with them that I'm thinking of going Independent.

WTF good will "going independent" Do? You will still have to vote for a viable candidate against the fascists, and that is NEVER going to be a third party. But you do you.

Cowards use "decorum" and "protocol" to try to cover their asses when they know they've done something wrong. Right, or wrong. In this administration, right means opposing every single measure Republicans bring up. Wrong is appeasing a fascist takeover by a couple of barking mad megalomaniacs, a bushel of Nazi billionaires, and a coterie of white supremacist Russian assets posing as government agency heads and Congressional representatives. Did Republicans hesitate to kneecap Obama or Biden measures? They know how to obstruct. Our Reps better learn how to do that fast, because in a few weeks, we may not even have a Congress, the way the fascists are speeding straight into Reich territory.

I think Evan's point is to rank em to decide where to begin in the elimination or replacement game (which is no game, I'm genuinely pissed). We have to ensure their districts remain in Dem control and some of them are stronger or more-strategic than others. This is a good start. But here are more! We should already be targeting which GOP'ers we can take down too.

Three months into a 22 month window with the orange shitbag at the wheel and I don't hear a peep from Dem Leadership. You MF's had better be strategizing and organizing. Let's not #@%&* wait until the last minute here!!

Indivisible member here, no longer residing in WA-CD-03 but I spent many days this summer doorbelling in some really rural areas for Marie G. Perez and have been a donor to her since before 2022 general.

I am not happy about her vote. I am a lot happier to be disappointed in her vote than to have MAGA Joe Kent in her seat.

Remember: CD-3 was won by Linda freaking Smith in 1994, RollCall's pick for most conservative house member. This is a district that defaults Red, not blue. We have this seat only because MAGA Joe primaried and defeated the long-term GOP incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler in 2022 because she voted for impeachment of Agent Orange.

And you want to primary MGP over a pretty meaningless censure vote?

If elections ever matter again, we're going to need every purplish district, and purple means we don't get an AOC voting record.

If elections ever matter/happen again... is the point. That’s the reason we need to look like a strong team with a cohesive message and goal. If it’s a meaningless vote, then why do it? Those purple state voters gonna remember that one time when they worked across the aisle to stand with the Nazis to shame that guy who tried to warn them about the Nazis coming for their Medicaid? How uncouth of that guy!
