I am begging someone, anyone, to respond to one of these hysterical fantasy sessions by asking for a definition of what they mean by ‘socialism.’ Because the conservative argument against socialism seems to be “anything but capitalism is communism so socialism is bad.” Republicans count on being able to obfuscate through interrupting, yelling, playing the victim, and intentionally misusing words. So fuck it, waste their time right back. Spend their five minutes on the definition of “is.” Stay calm and push back on the framing because the conclusion is beyond bullshit.

Fratty Matty, the military is the most socialist thing in the USA. Current members get free healthcare, free or greatly subsidized food, free or greatly subsidized housing, free job training, free life insurance, reduced family health insurance, even free travel if you can find a spot on a cargo or transport plane. Those retired or separated might get free or subsidzed healthcare for life, compensation money for injuries for life, and money for college, which they can transfer to a spouse or child if they don't need it. Illinois even goes above with the IL Veterans Grant, and pays tuition for state school undergrad, so you can save your GI Bill for grad school, or double dip to pay for books, supplies, food, and housing.
Every senator and congressman (even non-voting ones from not even states like the Virgin Islands and Wash D.C.) can appoint a high school kid to get a free college education from the state socialist universities. Now that's some woke socialism.
