When I was growing up my grandfather moved in with us after grandma died........he was 79. My mom made sure if he went to the corner grocery store, one of us kids went with him......to make sure he made it home........it was about 100 yards away......
I'm living in Thailand and I'm 71........things are going to get interesting in about 10 years......(my grandfather and my father both lived to 85........smoking camel non-filters and drinking wine by the gallon.......Germans live LOOOOOOONG lives......)

A friend who is a nurse told me she thinks he had a stroke when he went MIA a month ago. The cognitive test and the MRI were given as a result of the stroke. She said she thinks he has serious congestive heart failure and high blood pressure, which would explain the swollen ankles and bruising on his hand (where they administered diuretics via IV). She doesn't think the dementia is Alzheimer's, but is vascular. She gives him 6-8 months, tops.
