Really, Don McGahn? REALLY? You knew in January that Flynn had lied to the FBI, but you weren't 100 percent sure that was a crime? That's what you're going with here? CNN reports:
White House counsel Donald McGahn told Trump that based on his conversation with then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates, he believed Flynn had not told the truth in his interview with the FBI or to Pence, the source said. McGahn did not tell the President that Flynn had violated the law in his FBI interview or was under criminal investigation, the source said.
Wait, seems like it was just Friday when your Wonkette reported Don McGahn was GRRRRR, SO MAD at that Sally Yates lady for not telling him that Michael Flynn was a big ol' criminal.
OH, RIGHT! It was Friday, and McGahn was bitching that Yates didn't unmask all the details of the FBI investigation like a common Susan Rice. But that was before this weekend when White House attorney John Dowd used his mental telepathy to tweet that admission of obstruction of justice on the president's Obamaphone.
Ooooopsie! Well, there goes that strategy of pretending not to know Flynn told fibs to Johnny Law. Then John Dowd, who is a most excellent lawyer, confirmed to the Washington Post that Trump TOTALLY knew Flynn had lied to the FBI, but that it is simply UNPOSSIBLE for a sitting president to obstruct justice.
And now CNN is blabbing that Sally Yates even provided McGahn with a transcript of the conversation where Michael Flynn asked Russian Spy/Ambassador Sergei Kislyak not to enact retaliatory sanctions. So Don McGahn is left pretending that he was just aw, shucks unawares that lying to the FBI is a federal crime.
Yates did not share with McGahn "any description of what (the) FBI had asked Flynn or specifically what he had said," the source told CNN.
"They didn't think they were in a position to decide whether he had committed a crime," according to the source.
To which we say, OMG, DUDE! JUST STOP! Let's count the versions of this story:
Flynn never met with any Russians.
Okay, he met with Sergei Kislak, but he didn't discuss sanctions.
Well, maybe he did discuss sanctions, but he was freelancing.
Fine, the Trump team told him to go discuss sanctions. But then he lied and said he didn't.
We fired Flynn because he told Mike Pence that he never discussed the sanctions we sent him specifically to discuss.
But we never knew he lied to the FBI.
Also, too, we fired him for lying to the FBI.
Well, we knew about the lies to the FBI, but we didn't know that lying to the FBI is a crime.
For the love of God, Man! Trump is a lying pig with no ethics. That doesn't mean you have to get down in the mud with him! STOP!
Or, you know, full speed ahead, whatever. It's just more evidence for Robert Mueller and LULZ for us.
