First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

That is satire, CriticalDragon1177! People fuss with my braids, older men give them a yank (gently, as the braids remind them of when they were young and played tag with girls with braids), women touch my hair wondering if it is a wig or if the hair is "hard"...I am old, almost 76, and my hair is without color therefore called "white". It is very soft. Does this 'fiddle' fit with racism?

The worst offense about my braids was from some ol' self-aggrandizing self-proclaimed famous writer dude who wanted to date me and told me to cut my hair off because he "didn't like it". THAT was age-gender discrimination from one of those older, fatter,balding-we-like-only-young-wrinkle-free-girls-lovers-cause-they-make-me -feel-studly-ruler of the world guys. Yuk..

Don't forget that some of the white folks who are dissatisfied with the way blacks are treated in America are dissatisfied because the blacks have it too good and are taking over. What with the Obama phones, and Obamacare forcing hardworking people to pay for their absolutely free slut pills, and all thugs who aren't shot by the police, and folks suggesting that it might be possible to be racist even if the only white sheets you own are on your bed.

How many cops does it take to change a light bulb?

None. They'd just beat the room for being black.

Perhaps we need to start distinguishing between race... And culture. I don't judge on the basis of skin color. I absolutely judge on the content of someone's character and the culture they subscribe to and promote.

maybe I am reading too much in to this, but am I the only one hearing a dog whistle here?

Can you please explain that comment? What does a dog whistle have to do with the topic?

I might be totally misinterpreting things (see the username, after all), so apologies if that is the case. But in an awful lot of places "culture" seems to be a step away from "urban culture" which often (but not always!) means "people who are not white whose culture I do not understand/like because it is different from mine".

If you could explain what you mean by "the culture they subscribe to and promote," that might help clarify.

I think most conservatives, especially myself, would like to see race completely taken out of the conversation when it comes to policy and politics.

Is it conservatives who keep it there.... or liberals?

I mean just that... the culture you subscribe to. How you live your life... the things you value... the values you promote and pass on to others. The things you champion... the things you abhor.

Yes... "culture" could mean urban culture... it could also mean:-Hispanic culture-Asian culture-Redneck culture-Hippie culture-Academic culture-Ultra-religious culture and so on

I find it interesting that out of the word "culture"... you automatically jump the gun to "urban culture". You might have some innate bias to explore there (which is pretty normal) Let me be clear... yes... I judge people for being part of urban ghetto culture because I believe it champions evil things. But there are other cultures as well... many of them part of what you call "white culture" that I admonish just as heavily.

Where people like you get tripped up by that... is because ghetto urban culture is almost entirely of one race... and a majority of that race subscribes to that culture. That's simply a coincidence and I don't think it's reasonable to ask people to tip-toe around that.

I'll ignore the psychoanalysis.

I am aware that culture could mean many things; I just suspected that at least part of what you meant was "urban". And I think you proved my point with the whole "ghetto urban culture is almost entirely of one race... and a majority of that race subscribes to that culture". That second part there is the kicker, no?

Expand full comment

The second part is most definitely the kicker. Do you think it's true... or no?

Expand full comment

Nope, I do not, but I try not to generalize (aka stereotype) like that.

It's pretty clear we each think we're right, so I don't really have much more to say here.

In order to analyze... You have to generalize. There exists no other way.

I knew a sex dragon back in the day, but he was no racist. A pervert though? Yeah, definitely.
