Let’s give a shout out to librarians!

We are "the left" that MAGA is so afraid of.

Whenever I'm reminded of Mike Johnson telling the world that the No Kings protest last October would bring out all the evil, criminal and nefarious "left" to roam the streets of America, and other losers who claimed hardly anyone would show up, and that 9 million people all over the world joined the demonstrations that day, I am hopeful. But relying on the midterms to fix things is naive and wrong. This year will not be easy.

My partner DJTiltCat and I DJ at least 2 protest events every single weekend. Our comrades love the music and dancing; they say it energizes them. Also keeps us warm. It's been damned cold in the northeast. People credit us for helping to keep spirits up, and the weekly protests going for over 40 weeks of last year. It's hard. It's hard to keep a glad heart. I turned to DJTTC last night and remarked that we will not have a free weekend until that motherfucker is out of office, one way or another. Maybe not even then. And we're going to keep showing up, goddammit because the one thing they're counting on is us losing heart. Not going to happen.

Aside: if you would like a link to our playlist for your own event, message me. It's free and all you need is a bluetooth speaker.

Jeff Tiedrich, if for no other reason than he gave us the Pete-Hegseth-Wacking-Himself-In-The-Balls gif.

Meh, eff Newsom. He's making things harder for lots of vulnerable people - transgender folks, the unhoused, people who need GLP-1 drugs - and the fact that he's making fun of Trump doesn't make that better.

When Evan speaks/writes, Wonkette listens/reads. Thanks Evan! Especially that quote from Snyder about not having to do everything to fight fascism, but something. Pick a thing, do it. Pick another thing, do that. Don't forget to vote for a good one in place of what we have at every level of your local, state, and federal government. I just hope we don't need 50 years to turn this ship around, like the repugnicans did. And Wonkers? Don't make one or two people in your local communities have to play the hero because not enough of the rest of us showed up. Pick a thing, do that thing, OK?

Vote. Or be remembered as Pork Dick for the remainder of your lives.

No offense.

That's the most meaningful prayer I'll read all year. Amen!

bravo. bravo. I am in tears over this, some because it needed doing (and that's sad), some because the people who can, are. (and that's good)

It’s like the Dumb-Nazis are building the exact thing they and their financers do not want. A more aware, strong, and coherent community.

I think this is true. But I just can’t *feel* this is true … yet.

Also too the people who wrote and distributed apps so we could report the location of ICE and CPB in our neighborhoods, using our phones. Heroic.

I look at the ceilng in the dark, from my bed. I see car lights sweep across it. Inside the light is a map of our nation, with glowing lights glowing and darkening. Each light is someone(s) trying in their way to make things better.

Actually, he became a naturalized US citizen around 2013. 🙂

I've said this many times before: America is the people who show up. It's not Christians or White men or people with performative flag pins or any of the other bullshit the Right likes to embiggen. It's the people who show up for work, to volunteer, to vote, to help a neighbor, to donate their time and money to the community. It's the people who say, "I'm glad you're here" to the others who show up. And it's the people Evan mentioned.

“Hate is yelled, love is felt” quote from comedian Vir Das in his Netflix special (I think 2022-but he has 4 specials, all good)

So now we are listening to bagpipes and arguing about whether haggis is delicious. It is, btw.
