and still it goes on...

We don't have many nonwhites in my town, so all the cops have is teen-age girls. They will have a couple of teens pulled over, and three or four patrol cars behind and in front with all lights flashing, and a half dozen beer bellied cops wandering around whilst someone issues the girls a ticket. Buncha douches.

I understand tha tone. I owned a Fiat 850 for a while.

Signaling may not save you from getting a ticket if your bulb is burned out. This happened to me (fortunately, no police involvement). One time while we were on one of our infrequent trips back to civilization we pulled over at a convenience store for a pit stop. The lady in the the car that had been behind us stopped and told me that a few of my rear lights were out, including both signal lights. (She was right.) I had no idea and did not know how long they had been like that. The car had not given me any indication of it. After a quick stop at the first auto parts store we passed the problem was fixed before a trooper spotted it.

People experiencing acute clinical depression have a quite substantially elevated risk of injuring themselves or attempting suicide. Even with that, though, suicide is still a relatively rare phenomenon even among those with a mental illness.

It isn't that they hide it, it is that the people in their lives don't ask them about it.

Driving (late) to work the other day, I saw two cop cars for the cops that'd pulled aside a young black woman driver and had made her step out of her car. She was standing there, alone, so small compared to the giant white male cops who were "questioning" her. I started to cry for fear of what they might do to her, and hating myself for choosing to go to work rather than stopping to bear witness.

America is so very deeply fucked up.

I should have stopped.

And that bassetball team helped them a lot that one time...

But are we sure she wasn't singled out because she was a Christian?

I did think long and hard about posting it - there isn't much humor in this story. Whether she was murdered or that depressed, I'm not sure which is sadder for a lady that appeared to have a lot going for her.

Given the way people drive in Waller county- and I've been there, yes, though I spent most of my time in Harris, which is a literal pit of vipers with cars- I'm shocked that the cops pulled her over for FTS. Did she, by any chance, still have out of state plates?

Yeah, the fact that it's the Rangers and not Waller PD cooperating with the FBI is actually, to those of us from here, the one ray of hope in this mess.

Someone else has to bail you out.

And they have to have exact change.

Basically, cops can throw you in jail for nothing. A traffic ticket is an actual reason. Seriously.

...my job requires that I work closely with law enforcement and state attorneys on almost a daily basis. One thing I can tell you is 99.99% of the time cops write PTA's(Promise To Appear) for misdemeanor infractions. This wasn't even a damn misdemeanor!!! When I saw the video and heard about the probable cause for the arrest I almost threw my IPad across the room. The officer is claiming that she kicked him; well why the fuck was she out vehicle in the first place? This is a simple traffics citation. All he needs to ask for is drivers license and insurance! Secondly, how the hell could the officer even allow it to escalate to the point of having to arrest her?!?!

The cops would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids!
